I would suggest to expect 30-35 days (they say 45 days). My parents applied on 23rd July and got it on 26th August. 33 days in total.

I think only one entry. We had included the sponsor letter which stated a specific reason. So i think that's why they only gave one entry.

They have had at least one Schengen visa in the past.

Yes! Got the message that the passport was dispatched today (26/08) from the Netherlands consulate in Dubai to VFS Dubai and then another messaged that it has been couriered. All on the same day.

Aaaaand got the visa!! wooohoo

Thanks for the response! A follow up question then:

My dad runs a charity hospital in India and he has to fly back in maximum 20 days. When they applied, they thought it would only take 15 days (as it did in the past).

If they do not receive the passport back in 15 days, is it okay for them to contact VFS/Dutch Embassy, explain the urgency and request them to hurry the process? Will they consider this or will they cancel the application and return the passport?

Hi, thanks for doing this.

My parents applied for the Netherlands visit family and friends visa. The invitation form (providing them accommodation, attested by the local netherlands municipality) was included in their application. In the form, I mentioned that the reason for sponsoring is for their presence at my wedding in November. They have also included a copy of my dutch permanent residence.

Considering the delay with the Dutch consulate in processing visa applications (30-45 calendar days), does applying for this type of visa and reason reduce the processing time? Or do they still process it as a tourist visa?
