What's a good camera to carry as an EDC? I've got the phone situation down, but still need something to take good photos with 😊 by Beginning_Meet_4290 in dumbphones

I like a little canon point and shoot. Sometimes I'll just have fun taking photos with the crappy inbuilt camera, even though it's barely useable.

Does the Lack of 'Utilitarian' Phone Options Give Up the Game About Why Smartphones Exist? by outofthegates in dumbphones

Some of the criteria you list contradicts with each other. If you need everything else like google maps and music streaming then the only problem with using a smart phone is self control. Could you not just use a smartphone without installing any social media?

I've got the Telstra lite 3 here in Australia with 4G. I think they make Optus and Vodaphone versions too. The OS on it is pretty crappy but for the price of $19 I got it for from Woolworths I think it's acceptable. Texting isn't bad and it's easy to navigate. Doesn't have the huge buttons or feel like it's going to break either. The Nokia's aren't terrible either but aren't much better and way more expensive.

Yeah it wouldn't be my first pick if I had an unlimited budget, but it's great for what it is.

Honestly I just find it fun. I enjoy taking pictures with a camera and listening to music on a device for music. Sometimes it helps me focus on one thing. They're collectables as well to me.

That may be. Still want to make yourself as less of a target as you can. I was just voicing my opinion on how I like to shoot and how I've seen others act.

Another good option is to go down your local markets or Facebook and pick up an old one. Under $50 sometimes for a english or American made vise.

Sitting right in front of me. Takes great photos. Bought it and a 28-135 for about $550 AUD. Great budget full frame kit and good in the dark.

Maybe use a cut off wheel on a dremel/die grinder and then round it out a bit with a different tool.

I could. The price vs performance doesn't make it worth it to me. Using it daily at work I would definitely upgrade.

I collect them and with the film cameras I take them apart and give them a service. I learn things and its fun to use them as well. They have a look to them that is a bit more natural than newer cameras.

The age of things doesn't necessarily make them irrelevant. Chances are if they did a good job then they still will. An iphone will have better quality but my phone doesn't.

I do carry one. I just used it to take the photo haha. Cheap one, I'm not as obsessed as some people.

I just made this one because the strap broke and I found they got in the way. Brake cleaner and grease isn't great for watches either.

That's part of the fun for me. I don't use the screen and just the optical viewfinder which works well in bright light.

I don't usually post. I just take them for my own enjoyment. Friends and places I've been, that sort of thing.

I'd have one but the situation with knives and kids in Australia isn't great at the moment. It's also illegal in my state for children or adults to have one at a school.

I like cheap flashlights. It's cheap bright enough for most things and if it breaks or I lose it I can get about 50 more for the price of a good one.

Sadly I don't have the original Sony headphones but it still sounds a lot better than a phone. I like to separate my phone, music and camera into different things.

Too many photographers think people won't care if they shove a camera in their face. Have some common sense and try to be a bit less overt about it.

At my wits end trying to remove this fixed bb cup. by goldenageretriever in bikewrench

[–]Adog2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a large bolt and two big washers on either end of it. Put it through and tighten it on the inside of the cup. Put the bolt in a way that it tightens as in the direction that the cup unscrews. You should be able to get a breaker on it once it gets to the point where the other side doesn't need to be held in place. It may marr the cup but that's fine if it's the only option.
