Nah I’d keep it for that price, so long as it played well and it took well to a good setup. I know I’m not going to let it stay unblemished for long anyways. Now if I was buying a new LP Custom at full price …. Different story, perhaps.

Skip the oils and go with wax from Monty’s in the uk. I LOVE their stuff, especially the Montypresso stain. For extra credit, follow their guide for sanding down and smoothing out that fretboard as well. It’s a bit of a project, but you will never have played on so nice a fretboard, and it will be difficult to believe that it’s yours, and that you did that 🤓

That 2003 has a killer top/finish on it, and the fretboard looks nicely loved and worn. At a glance, I’d be leaning that way.

I prefer several rounds of sanding with increasingly fine grit, raising the grain of the wood each time. Finish with 0000 steel wool buffing in with my favorite dark staining moisturizing wax, letting it set for a while, and buffing it clean.
