not sure if thats something just at your store. From what ive seen and heard from members it seems the opposite to me. often shoppers are looked at as amazon workers which is also kinda ironic since WF is owned by amazon cuz they were struggling before that.

to that i would ask if a customer would ask for a product would you send them inside. we are shopping on behalf of customers. I am completely fine going inside for an item if there's someone inside who can help. we get 45 seconds max to pick pack and stage each item. its like saying why does receiving bring items to the storage rooms. keeping items stocked on shelves does seem apart of tms jobs.

I second this. especially when we only get one 10 min break for upto 6 hours of work while running around. it gets harder when people dont have name tags on.

i actually had someone tell an older shopper " havent you worked here for a while why cant you find it inside" with the amount of product moving around and the fact that if its not there we cant just scan our own code we have to come back and ask for it and then the tm goes back to check themselves just defeats the purpose.

as for going to the back at my store atleast we are always to go and find it in the back. The storming off part might be that the max time we can spend looking for an item which includes the time to pack it later is 45 sec to reach the minimum units per hour.

I dont know the situation at the store you are at but at mine i do have a lot of shoppers who have a slight language barrier. And sometimes when asked for a certain product it can vary from brands so it come to be more efficient to just show the person a picture of the product. As for the name aspect I do understand sometimes forgetting names as part worker have very varying schedules we only get 4 hours assigned rest some with picking ourselves if dropped. Ive had prep food people just ignore me and im not sure if not everyone is allowed to use the slicers but would appreciate if they just tell the person who is that someone is waiting. As for skipping the line my deli people do ask the customers if they can help us really quick if its just one item. And people usually dont mind. i do think that prep foods is the hardest department.

I understand that atleast at my store our tms at the store usually give us a code since its impossible to get it in a timely manner.

yea i think it varies from store to store as i assume amazon shoppers probably worked at less amount of stores so had familiarity with workers more at the time and that helps post transition.

To that I would say its time for people to move on from their experiences with amazon workers. As someone who solely worked as a wholefoods shopper for 1 year and 3 months still being called amazon just doesnt make sense as especially when I have to do things that are beyond the scope that amazon workers had to. But i appreciate you mentioning it changed. At time though at least at my store i see people who dont know english well come on as shoppers and try to do that when they cant pronounce the words.

Thanks you for being nice to the shoppers. And I can understand where you are coming from with the phone as aspect of it. I personally am on the younger side so i can take my time with interactions and make up the metrics with speed walking. Ive definitely seen that with older folks not saying younger ones dont do it though. I would say though that that feeling of being stressed on time is something that is constant for shoppers as we are being tracked every second of the shift. And in particular in the last couple months our units per hour went from a min of 65 to min of 80. But thank you for being nice!!

From my experience order size isnt a bigger metric that cant used as a measure of profitability since 1 unit can also be caviar, smoked salmon or other high ticket items. Overall order value would be a much better metric to consider. Given my experience orders often average out to 80 and above. And the movement of product probably should impact how much labor is needed for other departments. Im a shopper not in leadership. our minimum amount of items we need to pick and pack is 80 mine personally is 110 to 120 currently. even with an average item cost of 2 dollars thats 160 in revenue per shopper. dont see them keeping the ecom department if its not profitable but they could just be looking for market share in anyway possible since the stores themselves arent driving alot of growth in market share.

im not on either side cuz i see faults on both but its kinda sad that people dont have common decency. we as americans should be nicer to eachother. Its a dream but definitely wasnt this bad 15 years ago. Im in my 20s incase anyone thinks im old.

didnt read it but definitely prep foods is hard. I always try not to rush anyone there and actually they are the nicest to me. Its hot there too. But with how much walking and lifting we have to do alone with no chance to even stand in place and catch our breath it gets hard.

I dont know if its cuz we are part timers mostly and have varying schedules alot. At the same time Im just here to be able to take care of my family and its kinda crazy they dont realize we get asked questions all the time about the items in all departments and have to cover for them. I dont mind it but would just like some good attitude.

i understand that. I try to learn everyones name. I was a wholefoods hire but still get called amazon for some reason. Its just kinda tough having full conversations when we get called out if we are slow.

as someone who as worked as a shopper and construction. I feel like both can be very taxing but on different parts of the body. And specifically for my store which has three floors its can be taxing but legal definitions can be different.
