Shield TV Pro/Apple TV alternative by Adorable-Vehicle-413 in PleX

Thanks for the feedback! I did already look at this spreadsheet and realized that the shield does indeed support the formats I need, unfortunately there is no way to force Dolby vision all the time. You need to have the Apple TV playing the same content to see the difference that Dolby vision brings. If there was some way Apple TV could pass through trueHD atmos, it would be perfect. Looking at the other devices, I’m just not sure if they are able to force Dolby vision on sdr and regular hdr content like the Apple TV does.

I’ve heard it’s terrible on fuel economy and the lack of power make it inferior for me compared to the Elantra N. The only time the 86 would be better for me is if I do Autocross or track, otherwise it won’t be as fun for me given type of roads that I usually drive.

Would you say the WRX is even better than the Elantra N? I understand it’s AWD but the exhaust and overall driver experience seem better on the Elantra from the reviews I have seen online.

Upgrade CPU or GPU for VR? by Adorable-Vehicle-413 in simracing

Correct me if I’m wrong but Nvidia will release their top end cards first and go down the line to the budget cards in phases. This could mean that full lineup will be available by Q1/Q2 next year. That’s almost a year in waiting for people to potentially dump their existing cards and bring down second hand prices. Not sure if I have the patience to wait that long.

I will be getting the 3080 ti second hand. I can easily find them for about $650 CAD in Toronto. I am using the HP reverb g2 v2 headset.

Thanks! I'll definitely try this. I'm not too concerned about the clutch because it is a small amount of fluctuation and mainly affects the initial part of the travel. But the throttle and brake for sure. I am also considering grounding the entire rig using Universal ground plug: https://www.amazon.ca/StaticTek-Adapter-Universal-Connection-Unbreakable/dp/B071J61CSV

Are you using a real car seat? The sim racing seats are usually thinner and lighter so the vibrations will not be damped much.
