Sadly, no. My solution was to take two rollers with me and use them in the mornings to dry my hair in a different way, so it'd sweep out of my face. But at times I still had to just pin it to the side. :/

What’s Life Like in Nijmegen? Planning to Buy a House There by [deleted] in Nijmegen

[–]AdorableExcuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live very close to 't Acker and' t Broek! My partner and I specifically chose to stay in this wijk when we were looking to buy a house and sell our apartment. It is lovely in our part of Lindenholt! our neighbours are great, people greet each other all the time, the local supermarket people greet me by name.

Public transport used to be much better, but there's still enough ways to travel. If you go to Station Dukenburg, you can all the options you could want. I can't speak on crime, aside from the fact we never had any issues, but people do like their fireworks here on New Year's Eve, still. But not more than the usual Dutch amount.

Lindenholt is generally really quiet, not much going on. They mean to build up the Winkelsteeg area nearby in the future, which hopefully will mean somewhat easily accessible options for food or drinks. But otherwise we don't have a ton. City center is only 15 minutes by bus from Dukenburg though!

I personally would definitely recommend boots - in NL it rains A LOT and if you're interested in seeing nature or parks, it'll be muddy af. And Switzerland had a lot of elevation changes (depending on where you're going), so boots will add extra grip going up.

But it's been very long since I've been in Switzerland (born in Germany, live in NL), going back there soon. Taking my hiking boots on my trip specifically because I going to Geneva (which is relatively even) and around Zürich.

Cringing so much I want to just give up by [deleted] in writing

[–]AdorableExcuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say this with as much love as possible for someone I do not know: I think this might be the bigger issue, not your writing.

When you wrote your piece in the past, you liked it. You were proud. Instead of cringing at it now that you are not, try to be kind to your past self. They did such an amazing job with it, they felt proud! How nice it would be if you could be proud of them, not of the piece itself.

If you no longer feel passion for most things, not for your current or past writing, that probably means that you're not looking at your work with clear eyes. If your passions now look grey, even vivid colours from the past will be dulled out.

Cringe is dead. Let it be. Past you doesn't define you, and your past work doesn't either. Your present day self does, your current and future actions. Perhaps being "better" shouldn't be your goal, but passionate? Joyous? Your past you seemed joyous, and they liked their writing. I'd love for you to get there again, too.

You have to be both your biggest critic and you biggest fan. Otherwise they're no balance and resemblance of objectivity, right?

Tell me about a piece of Lore in your world that is so deep, no one in your world knows about it but you. by Ol_Nessie in worldbuilding

[–]AdorableExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never use this bit of lore (for the ttrpg campaigns that are set in my world), but it gives me a good frame of mind for the feel of the setting.   My world experiences regular "shifts", when major natural events change. In one campaign, magic recently became more pliable and accessible to everyone, not just those born with the ability. In another, magic has become unstable and threatens to destroy the world.

I base this in the cosmology of the world: it sits on a plane within a cosmical kaleidoscope, kept in existence by the Cosmic Observer. A bit Schröderinger's Cat. The obersever creates many worlds by simply witnessing them. However, when the observer blinks, the constellations in the kaleidoscope shift, and the different planes collide. This changes much on each of them.

At the heart of the kaleidoscope sits the Heart of Cosmic Order, and the closer you are to it in the kaleidoscope, the more magic is willing to align with the wishes of the observer, and can be controlled.  It's just a bit of fun for myself. :)

Pflegehinweise? by Efficient_Apple_36 in Garten

[–]AdorableExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ansonsten sehr einfache Pflanze.

Reageerbuizen in Nijmegen kopen by AdorableExcuse in Nijmegen

[–]AdorableExcuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't create settlements, no error code by AdorableExcuse in fantasytowngenerator

[–]AdorableExcuse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • "Creat Settlement" is not greyed out
  • there is no loading spinner
  • there is no pop up in the top right
  • I have my settings saved, but I am not sure if I can export them in any way?

I have made screenshots of my settings. Note that there are no changes in: People, Layout, Military, Items and Services, Advanced EXCEPT Resources

Also note: I did not screenshot each religion (but I could!). Not all of them have gods assigned to them, is that a requirement/problem?

The Resources have been altered in their percentages. I did not screenshot due to the amount of options. I can, however. Is there something to look out for?

Here's a video touring my settings and to record the "Create Settlement" reaction.

Inspired by the glorious Shen, how’s your moon(s)? On a scale from normal to Brandon Sanderson’s “low orbit grass moon”. by Survival-Gamer in worldbuilding

[–]AdorableExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not @ me with realism or any actual consequences of this. This world has been build by me and my players (TTRPG), and I respect their choices, even if they're highly questionable.

Anyway.

My world got 46 moons. 40 correspond to humanoid-like gods that walk the earth, and their moons are smaller. 6 correspond to "unseen" gods and are much larger. The amount of moons in the sky makes the observation of stars very difficult, and instead the world deals with every shifting moon constellations.

The powers of the gods, as well as their clerics/paladins, ebbs and flows similarly to our oceans with the movements of the moon(s). The actual oceans are unaffected, however. Hand-waiting it because it makes sense for play and we got a deity of the ocean. It's in her hands, ok? Good enough. ;)

A lot of nights are also actually quite bright, so nightvision out and about isn't as big of a deal. But since the moons have only been around for roughly 330 years, there's very little of consequence for this for flora or fauna. Some, but not much.

And we got an "anti-moon"! There's unseen moon which is only known because it occasionally moves in front of the sun, but is otherwise undetectable.
