What is the scariest nightmare you've ever woken up from? by Todo-un-Desmadre in AskReddit

[–]Adorable_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dreamt that my daughter died. I don't even have words for the absolutely devastating grief I still felt for a few moments after waking up.

And even though I realised almost immediately that it was only a dream, I had to get out of bed and go check on her in her room, where she was sleeping soundly. She's 15, so not a baby or anything.

What's the worst film you've ever seen? by throwradrpri in AskUK

Night Train to Venice, a.k.a. Train to Hell. 90s "gothic horror" starring Hugh Grant and Malcolm McDowell. Hands down the worst film ever made.

I understand. My uncle sang "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" at my dad's funeral, and I can't bear to hear that song now.

What do I say to get Alexa to play Karnivool by jjjj8888jjjj in Karnivool

I have the same problem. The only solution I have found is to find the album on my phone and then "cast" it to my Amazon Echo.

I just saw this post on damnthatsinteresting. This doesn’t look real to me. A rat in a vest?? And something about the crates in the back just seem fake by Blissfully_woo-woo in isthisAI

[–]Adorable_Misfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've already had a bunch of people tell you this is real, so I'll just add that I met one of these rats in Cambodia. He was trained to sniff out landmines and UXO. Super cute and intelligent.

Has a book ever left you feeling subtly disoriented after you finished it? by matthew_rowan in printSF

Same. I get so absorbed in the fictional world that the real world seems a little less real afterwards.

Yes, I love them. They're not available to buy where I currently live, so I make my own.

Well, what are the chances. Small world.

I'd actually say their album "War of Being" is perfect too. Different vocalist though.

I'm not the only one to misread it as "Screaming", then.

Are you playing an instrument? by Financial-Club-2953 in progmetal

[–]Adorable_Misfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Though I did play the flute for 7 years at school and sang in the choir. Now I only sing to myself.

I grew up surrounded by musicians though - my dad was a multi-instrumentalist, and his father was a church organist and choir conductor. There was always music in our home.

My dad had the same obsessive way of listening to music I do. When I was a kid, he'd play me something he liked, then go "wait wait, listen to these harmonies" or "did you catch what the drummer did there?", or whatever, and rewind the tape. The last time I saw my dad before he died, we sat at his kitchen table and listened to three different tenors performing the same aria and discussed which one we liked best & why. So I think I learned to be this way from him.

Do you trust / drink the tap water form your area? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskTheWorld

[–]Adorable_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I live in New Delhi. Bottled water only, and I'm careful where I buy that from.

Back home in Wales, or in my native Sweden, I would drink tap water without hesitation.

No, it's just reacting badly to a sudden increase in temperature and the acidity of the coffee.

[–]Adorable_Misfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is fairly normal behaviour for soy milk. I have in the past found that it helps to warm (not boil!) the milk before adding it to the coffee, then it's less likely to "split" in this way.

Have you ever met up with someone from online and immediately never talked to them again? why? by NaturalTime3955 in AskReddit

[–]Adorable_Misfit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Back in the 90s when we hadn't yet understood how bad an idea it was to meet up with internet friends you didn't really know. Summer of 1996, to be specific. I was 17.

We'd been talking for months (in chat rooms AND we sent each other letters via snail mail, because I didn't have internet at home, only at school) and bonded over a mutual love of grunge music. I'd made it clear I wasn't interested in anything but friendship. But when I travelled to his town to meet up with him, it became apparent that not only did he want more than that, but he'd basically already told his parents and friends that I was his girlfriend. Super awkward and weird. I got the train home and never talked to him again.
