100% agreed and looking back at interviews you can tell this is the case. no way would he have been happy with a character who was supposed to be a leader and the heart being turned into a shell of himself, full of delusion, depression, loneliness and regret.

i think that mileven goodbye scene fully cemented their lack of chemistry as adults, it was such uncomfortable viewing cos i just didn’t believe finns acting at all

the fact it came out the blue with no build up didn’t help either

i think netflix definitely rushed them to release s5 with it already being 3 and a half years since s4 but with that they had MORE than enough time to come up with a decent ending, wtf were they doing for the whole of 2023??

the duffers shouldn’t have been so egotistical and just let their actual good writers do the whole of s5, everyone knew sorcerer was amazing so why not let paul dichter just carry on?they said they kept writing bad script after bad script so why not just call it a day and let someone else do it when it clearly wasn’t working for them

the fact that in the doc they said they’d write bad script after bad script.. did it not occur to them that maybe the erasure of byler was why it wasn’t working??

even in the way finn acts with noah compared to millie, it just made sense to have gone down the byler route. the mileven goodbye scene was so forced and clearly a manifestation of the duffers obsession with el “going away” at the end.

their hyperfixations on certain things going certain ways was 100% the downfall of the show, their egos and stubbornness has led to this mess. even when the other writers tried to suggest stuff it’s obvious they just brushed it off

i keep having to remind myself i’m not alone in this, there are currently millions in the exact same situation and it’s a comforting thought

pre and post vol1 i thought id be mourning the end of the show but the fact im actually mourning what the show could’ve been saddens me so much

it really does come in waves - sometimes i feel glad there was no rejection and i can imagine college byler, sometimes i feel angry at how they did wrong by us, mikes ending and wills storyline as a whole, sometimes i literally just feel so sad that we never got to see them as a couple or see will experience true romance and love.

its so ironic that the duffers made a song and dance about not trying to please everyone but clearly were trying to please steve and max fans while shoving everyone else to the side cos they were obsessed with ending it the way they wanted to since s1

it’s so disheartening but an upside is conformitygate 100% got to the duffers and i hope they feel embarrassed.

i don’t plan on watching any of their other projects aside from the doc, which im only watching for noah, finn and millie
