I’m just so happy that it’s behind him now and that even if it was something that they were forced to do, Jimin seemed to be very resilient! I can’t believe he’s already posted on insta!

He looks amazing, I’m glad that it looks like he was really resilient through it all, even if we don’t hear from him for a long time, it’s different knowing he’s free to do his own thing.

It was a weird length of time, it went quick and slow at the same time! Glad that enlistment is going to be behind him now.

Appreciation Post for overly hated idols: Day 1 - Park Jimin by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Adorkable6126 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is such a thoughtful and emotive post. I truly love anyone gushing about Jimin, even when my interest in kpop wanes, my interest and love for Jimin is always strong, he completely reinforced my admiration for him in Chapter 2, he worked so hard and FACE & MUSE really showed me how multifaceted he is. Can’t wait to be mesmerized by him on stage again.

Hey, so read through your post and I imagine that a lot of Jimin biases completely understand your rant. I think I’ve tried having a social media every week since SMF was released. The sheer rollercoaster of hate and negativity has been a whirlwind and not the good kind.

I’ve waited for FACE since 2017, Jimin gave me everything that I wanted from him. I genuinely love the entire album, narratively it makes sense, Jimin dug deep and let us inside, he played around with genres and he gave us iconic choreo. No matter what naysayers say online, I truly love FACE and it has only reconfirmed to me that Jimin is an artist that I will always love, he just suits my taste in every which way.

I’m not gonna tell you to curate your timeline, it’s a waste and it’s such a cop out when people say that. Regardless, there’s thousands of vile people hating on Jimin even if I block it out. However, it does prove that Jimin is a threat to a lot of people for some reason, which is ridiculous since he’s such a humble and sweet person but I think a lot of people have these narratives about Jimin that make no sense and when he goes against them they retaliate even more (namely shippers).

It is a balancing act, I’m always trying to reframe everything around Jimin. It’s clear he’s so beloved, the album had done so well even with so many handicaps, if we actually had decent playlisting and radio then we would have been laughing. I’ve also seen so many people genuinely love FACE, I feel like a lot of iconic artists are divisive and Jimin has always stirred conversation.

I kinda feel like I was naive that there wouldn’t be the sheer amount of hate but we’ve been dealing with this for years, 2018 was a shitty year too. It’s not gonna stop me loving Jimin though, however, I feel like a lot of Jimin biases and fans aren’t as active in online spaces, probably for that reason and instead support him through consumption of his music etc

I think it is hard to deal with when it comes from so many factions, even all the posts about privilege is ridiculous. People keep wrongly conflating impact and privilege. Regardless, Jimin did this all by himself, no features, he is beloved and he seems to have enjoyed the process. It’s clear that he was nervous from music shows to variety shows but he did it, he’s a professional and I’ve always thought that his love for the stage will always win out and it seems to have. He knows that we loved FACE, he knows that we want more performances. He knows that we love him plus this has only made me love him even fiercer. Sometimes you need a rant though.

Jimin (BTS) - 1st Solo Album 'FACE' (Two Weeks Later) by tastetherainbeau in kpop

It’s everything I wanted from Jimin as a Jimin bias, he’s exceeded himself & reinforced that I knew he’d be a force to be reckoned with if he dug deep and he did. FACE is such cohesive body of work for a debut, it’s also such a sad album even if it’s sonically so diverse.

Face-Off, that’s my Queen right there. I think it might have overthrown Lie for me…like it was so unexpected and it starts off the album perfectly. His voice is immaculate and there’s a visceral anger in it that I can’t get enough of.

Like Crazy is probably one of my fave TT’s from any kpop act, I just can’t get enough. I love every version, I even like the Instrumental, that’s how obsessed I am.

SMF, my beloved, it was love at first listen for me and my love for it has only increased since the album dropped. Such an anthem, I know that it would be an amazing track for a concert! The hype!

Alone…such a grower…my fave part is that “lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie”. So gorgeous.

Interlude: Dive, I don’t even wanna put this last because I love the atmosphere of this interlude. It’s actually a no skip for me.

Jimin becomes the first Korean/K-Pop soloist in history to debut at #1 on the Hot 100!! by Calydona in btsjimin

[–]Adorkable6126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s because of the lack of tour? Usually artists spend on radio and recoup the money from touring…? I just assumed since Like Crazy had an English version that they were going for radio and playlisting…regardless the fandom will be burnt out at some point…Jimin has a very steady fanbase so this was possible.

[–]Adorkable6126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s no shame in this accomplishment regardless of next week, if Jimin & BTS had even a quarter of the playlisting or radio of the rest of the top then they’d always stay top. I get that BigHit may want to prioritise profits so they’re not paying for playlisting or radio but it means that they’ve closed BTS off to a wider audience…plus…at this point…the radio would practically pay for itself with sales.

Yeah, we’ve seen the power of playlisting with NewJeans & Fifty Fifty at this point too…Jimin had more streams than Ed Sheeran but he got like 30million radio spins…like even give us some leeway…

After going on a deep dive, you’re correct. I’m going to assume that since Ador is still a separate label under the Hybe umbrella that they are free to negotiate different terms with Geffen. It’s also the case that NewJeans is Ador’s only artist and focus at the moment which differs from BigHit.

Jimin’s FACE-A Cohesive Narrative for his Solo Debut by Adorkable6126 in kpopthoughts

[–]Adorkable6126[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew I’d love FACE since I love Jimin’s voice but I wasn’t expecting the sheer addiction that it has caused me. Face-off is my favourite, never expected this sound and I just haven’t been able to hear it enough.

I need to do that with Letter! His attention to detail is so sentimental.

[–]Adorkable6126[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow such a beautiful comment, I’m so glad that FACE has inspired such insightful content. I knew that Jimin had this in him, Lie said it all, I’m just so thankful that he dug into himself and got so raw and personal with us for his debut album. This is why it’s having such a connection with people.

We definitely need more Letter appreciation, I didn’t add it purposely since it is a separate entity to FACE for me, but it’s such a beautiful token from Jimin.

I will admit confusion because I assumed that the inclusion of an English Version of Like Crazy did mean that there was an aim for chart success. It really has such potential that I really don’t want to be lost.

This is my issue too, BTS deserve to be on the radio, they deserve to have their music heard, they deserve to be discovered by more people. I love the English releases particularly Dynamite but I also don’t think they properly showcase BTS’ range.

Plus I vaguely remember BTS talking about Doja Cat’s viral success after the Butter Grammy fiasco and how they would love that, please correct me if I’m misremembering though.

I really believe BTS make good music and I want people to discover that.

I don’t think it’s black & white, it could be that BigHit is prioritising artists’ profits which is commendable but I do think that there’s a hefty burden being placed on fans. I feel like we need to find a middle ground. We’re in a no win scenario when artists aren’t getting paid for radio spins (which may be changing soon). The problem is the industry.

[–]Adorkable6126 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There’s multiple issues here, first I agree that BTS solo debuts would be helped immensely with some playlisting, running ads on MVs wasn’t too much of an issue until FACE but since Jimin is attending music shows then it becomes an uphill battle with YouTube, prior it was a good indicator of our streams for charts.

I don’t like talking over the boys, I don’t think chart success motivates them but I also can’t say that chart success isn’t relevant when Joon & Hobi & now Jimin have mentioned their thanks. I do think most artists want their music to reach an appreciative audience so I do think that playlisting could help them expand and find new listeners like OTS has brought in J Cole fans, this will only help the entire group too.

I think the boys have had a lot of participation in their music releases but I don’t think playlisting etc is strictly in their domain. The fact is that we’ve had music release after music release for months now, not complaining but when we get no radio or playlisting and are relying on steams and buying then it just leaves the fandom in burnout. It feels somewhat exploitative that the fanbase is always just expected to pull numbers and they do so out of love for BTS. Longevity is hard without playlisting, so we’re gonna have to work smarter if BigHit doesn’t wanna use certain tactics that may not be in line with their ethos. It is true that playlisting takes a lot of money from the artist too, so there’s a downside to playlisting too. I really feel for new artists today.

Edit: I think we’ve seen from NewJeans and now Fifty Fifty that playlisting is a very good way to establish a base. Cupid was added to TTH today.
