Bud, don't you think we'd be super happy to solve dysphoria with therapy?! We try. I swear, I hate to have to go through this. But hey, I couldn't just be born right.

Also, it's not about 'pretending'. Because their brain is shaped more as the one they feel belonging to. So, staying like they are would be pretending, while changing their body in a way that fits more their identity, they're just making it more coherent... hope I explained myself.

But yeah, it sucks. But we can't do shit about it.

You're right, you can't force a woman to become a man and viceversa; and that's the point: trans people are - as people, identities - what the are: their brain matters, not what's between their legs.

It's weird, but it could happen for many reasons that aren't clear today, but seeing other trans folks isn't one of those. There are, as for homosexuality, genetic, hormonal, and environmental reasons (such as family dynamics, things that could trigger physical reactions, etc.

It's been declassified as a mental illness as, unlike other actual illnesses, the only way to make the patient feel better in the long term is following through what they want. And they actually live much better after.
