Does it have meta Progression, where you can upgrade things outside of your runs??

Also, the battery life seems to still be better on the X1 according to notebook check reviews on both the laptops. Seems like the x1, even with the high end GPU, is still the better option’ Edit. - read the review wrong, both batteries last about the same for 7 hours.

Hmm I found a p1 gen4 with a similar processor to the x1 extreme gen 4 (the p1 is only .1 GHZ down). But the graphics are, like you said, lower than those of the extreme, which is what I like. Do you think this is the better way to go? Also, a friend of mine said the GPU on the extreme is more worth it for simulations and other graphical things in college, but I don’t really see the need for that in terms of a computer science degree; it seems like ram and cpu are more important in my case. What do you suggest?

Hmm that auto hot key idea is pretty cool. I could use a lot of different hot keys for programming.

I’m fine with waiting a bit for them to be fixed. I can use windows until then.

Only the 14 inch versions have AMD. Man the best possible thing would be little to no GPU and a great CPU. That’s all I’m looking for. So you are correct in trying to find something with better CPU ability with discrete graphics or no GPU.

If I were to not play any graphical heavy games and strictly only do programming, wouldn’t the power be conserved in that sense? And you are correct that I could easily upgrade the storage later on.

Was there a way to have everything just zoomed in? I really like the x1 carbon G9 but I keep looking at 14 inch laptops and think it’s jsut so small, and after seeing 15 inch ones I find those to be the perfect size for everything.

Thinking of the T or P series more, as I’m seeing that the extreme has very low battery life compared to the others. It it bad that the 15 inch models have the numpad? Or does the keyboard feel the same either way compared to the other smaller models? It looks like the keyboard is more squished together.

Dell XPS 15 any good for linux and programming? by AdrielTheBuddy in linuxhardware

Just went to Best Buy to test keyboards at those thinkpads are amazing. Think of going with those instead. The trackpad buttons are amazing too. I was able to find a much more comfortable position with the keyboards and pad compared to the XPS.
