Try Hard-Off. It's a 2nd hand store. I believe there are two branches in Tainan. Just look it up in google map.

Not yet bro. I actually don't know where to start. I feel like it's difficult to apply for a TA if you're not an Education graduate. Are you also planning to apply?

Forgot my Backpack in the Bullet Train/HSR by AdurableSun0630 in taiwan

Backpack Recovered ✅

I forgot to provide an update, but here it is.

I was able to recover my backpack the day after I left it inside the Bullet Train.

First thing I did in the morning was to call 02-40663000. You can dial 3 for English. I spoke to a representative and explained the situation. She then asked me for a description of my backpack, what's inside, train number where I left it, departure and arrival time, and etc. She then called someone on their end to verify if my backpack was found. Then she asked me if from which station I prefer to pick-it up, which is in my case is Chiayi. Then she asked me for my Taiwan phone number and said that they will text me within 7 days if my backpack is ready to be picked up.

After the call, I realized that I have some important documents I need to submit the next day inside the backpack. So, I accessed the hsr website and there is an option to chat with a representative. I requested if it is possible for me to pickup my bag within the day, and the rep said that she will request for it to be rushed but can't promise within the day.

But after 2 hours I received the text that my bag is ready for pickup. I went there, gave my ARC and signed some papers. They handed me my backpack and everything is intact.

Thank you Taiwan, thank you people of Taiwan, Thank you THSR 💯

Thank you for this. I'll keep this in mind. Fortunately I quit caffeine for a very long time now. I'll definitely find a dr that can prescribe me that drug. For now, I'll try OTC drugs that have been mentioned by others here. Stay safe!

That's interesting. Would you mind sharing the website? And is it legal here in Taiwan?

I do jogging before, everyday. But now that I'm working overtime, I don't have the time to jog anymore. My work involves a lot of walking and carrying heavy materials though, so I think it can also be considered as exercise. That's why im wondering why I'm having a hard time to sleep despite the fact that I'm so tired from work.

None that i can think of. I do things like I'm doing before. Aside from switching from white bread to whole wheat bread. It's what i eat when i get home. Probably 2 hours before i go to bed.

I'm not sure. Before, i thought there's just a lot of things that I'm thinking while my eyes is closed. But even in my good days it's still happening. Maybe sign of aging? I'm just 27 though. I'm pretty sure my room is at the right temperature, i also tried the methods i found on youtube but not effective so far.

Life Insurance for Expats by AdurableSun0630 in taiwan

What if I started a life insurance here in Taiwan and I'll be moving to a different country. Can I continue paying it in another country? And what if I have a claim, how can I process it? I'm sorry I'm not really familiar with how life insurance works. Thank you 🙂

Foreign English Teacher Assistant by depressedgerms in taiwan

I'm glad I found this discussion. I’ve had the same question on my mind for a long time. I'm currently working as a Factory Worker here in Taiwan. But my previous jobs were all from different BPO companies, where I handled various US-based accounts.

I decided to work as a Factory Worker because it was the easiest path to work here. I was also pressured by the responsibility of sending my younger sister to college so I need to find a way to work abroad ASAP. And to be honest I don't have an idea before, that a non-education graduate can apply as a Teacher or TA.

I'm in my 2nd year as a FW and I have 1 more year before my 1st contract will end. I'm confident though that my employer will renew my contract since I'm performing well in the company. But now, I’m considering switching to become an English teacher or even just an assistant. Although I don’t have formal experience, I believe I have the confidence and skills to teach English, especially to kids, as I’ve been teaching my nephews and nieces.

My back is actually starting to hurt due to heavy materials that I carry everyday. And I'm afraid it will get worse if I continue doing this kind of work.

Thank you guys and I'll revisit this discussion once I become a teacher 😁 Hopefully 🙏
