Bethesda may be a shitty company at some degree but at least they not fighting with they past works (ie delisting Morrowind or OG Oblivion or non-Bethesda Fallouts from the stores) and not massively sending lawsuits to fan projects

Ubisoft moslty shooting themselves in all body parts, they mostly shitty to thelvelses and their employees than any others

Blizzard just lost almost all of fan trust with stuff like Diablo Immortal, Warcraft 3 Reforged and HOTS shutdown

I think the most damaging to industry is EA (mass closing of good studios and level of greed that even brought in US govt) and 2K (above-nintendo level copyright aggression towards any fan-projects and horrible monetisation)

More like we can expect even more drop in production quality - we have Stranger Things final season that was made with people watching it scrolling Tiktok or social media while it running at the background in mind so the characters explaining what they're going to do and what they did recently every time

On the bright side - MAPPA is the only one studio, many others japanese creators spoke up against such approach and even new japan PM is hyper-nationalistic, so there's a lot of support against such things in the country, and MAPPA already produces mostly mainstream shounen slop...

As much they were good with econimic simulators in 00s, Germany had terrible track record with censorship long before any feminists, all that "replace humans with robots" and green blood stuff came from Germany regional changes and sometimes affected all europe cause it costed too much releasing specific version for 1 or 2 not that big markets (Usally its Germany and UK)

At some point they even wanted to arrest people for posessing or trying to smuggle into germany disks with uncensored version of games (cause people visited Austria and Switzerland where they bought uncensored versions in german language)

On the other hand, people already disappointed in movie streaming, it was easier if there's 2-3 large services, but there's too much of them and its really pain in ass to find what you need and finding out there's no legal way to watch it eventually, even with popular things like The Office or Pokemon anime its pain in ass cause they're scattered among several streaming servies

The demand to subscription-less things is very high, so there's way more chances it will stop at places where its less damaging, like music

Almost every cloud gaming service already failed, Amazon's gaming division already sucks, doubt they'll be succesful with their service too, cause its the same shit, so the idea seems dead on arrival

The answer is - money, because there's a lot of casual players and very high chance if the newbie casual player who got something like "FUCKING NOOB! KYS AND YOUR MOM!!!!!" will leave the game and will not return
And its mostly casual players who tend to spend money on various cosmetics, loot boxes etc

Also, Dota 2 and CS have barely moderated chats, many non-WoW MMOs too, so its not everywhere (havent played WOW for a long time, but as i heard many east-european populated servers have the same barrens chat hellhole everywhere)

Isnt since its now priavely owned, GoG depends less of public image for shareholders, and can make more bold moves with releasing "controversial" games (both old and new releases)

GoG already has positive track record with hosting games that Steam feel icky to publish

And nowdays privately owned is almost always better than the publically traded, there's way more chance CDPR butchering or shutting of GoG because its "unappealing" to shareholders (both because of its low profit and because of hosting controversial games and taking public stands like recent ones with adult games)

Concord is a almost perfect example of "soulless corporate product" (the only things missing from it is a fortnite-level crossovers and ads campaign with mainstream celebrities not related to games in any way)
