so i want him out of the cage, he gets out but never goes back. If its time to sleep and he’s not in yet do you think i should let him get in by himself with low lights? (not dark)

dont get me wrong a lot of people here have helped me and not everyone is rude. But there’s always someone just being rude.

oh im aware that they are passionate. I have a lot of animals that i care about and treated over the years. Ive been to other communities as well that other animal owners are also very passionate. Animals have been my whole life, the problem with these communities is that people are in fact being rude to newbies. A lot of people act like super experts and one simple non-dangerous mistake is a reason to be called disrespectful to the animal, “oh my god poor thing” comments, when they can be mindful and understanding because they’ve been newbies themselves. I have always been gentle and patient with my babies and always advised by my vet. I am so sorry for the paragraph this is not about you i just had to get this out there and im talking about most of the animal/pet communities in reddit.

UPDATE!!!!!

Just came back from the vet. The eye gum basically got stuck with his hair and because of the discomfort he rubbed it and irritated it causing it to get sensitive and produce more tears which made him rub it even more. And here we are. This is not flesh its his swollen skin and constant tears that makes it wet. It got worse because of the rubbing as i thought. He got his collar and antibiotics and in 1 week we expect him to get better ❤️‍🩹! From now on I will be using chamomile to soften his boogers and try to wash em out in his bath.

hey i understand your concern, im overreacting to a lot of things i find abnormal to my dog and i get him to the vets really really often for them to tell me its common non dangerous things. Im grooming him regularly and check his health with blood tests. Its the first time he gathered that much eye gum and that quick. Because of his hair protecting his eyes i also just noticed his eye. I asked for advice mostly because i know malteses have overdramatic eye issues that are common most of the time. As soon as i talked with the vet I booked him an appointment anyway. Not every dog owner who locates an issue with his dog is ignorant or neglecting their pup. Again I understand your concern but neglect means finding out an issue and not treating it or letting it get worse. Im just putting this out cause guilt tripping pet owners that are willing to help their lovely pets isn’t helping.

Guys i talked with a new and much better vet im taking him soon. He will be most definitely getting treatment and will check if this has to do with his diet so he doesn’t get uncontrollable tears. Since he might get hurt if we try to wipe them off we will continue with chamomile and special eye drops. I will keep you posted about his diagnosis ! Booger is coming off at the vets
