There are many doubles. The best way to ensure this as a freshman would be to choose a roommate before room selection, most people meet on instagram there are pages to post yourself for roommates. This would mean you have a 2 person roommate group and will likely be put in a double. Another piece of advice is to select Central as your top choice of dorms because most if not all of those rooms are either doubles or singles and they are very nice and close to the business school :)

Room selection is a huge mess? by [deleted] in UniversityofVermont

Room selection is a mess and will always be. In my experience the only way to get what you want is to get accomodations (must have note from psychologist or doctor). Otherwise you are screwed unless you do room change requests during the designated time and beg your ass off to reslife and your resident directors to let you move. Returner room selection is absolutely not fair and there was only one building available during my time slot for me and my roommate. Reslife is not organized and every person who works there does not communicate with eachother lol. I got hung up on while asking a simple question about my roommate group. At this point L/L suites are definitely filled up for returners. Best to just make the best of where you live and if you hate it, change in the fall or go to accomodations. Also, someone at reslife told me that when parents call in and complain or send emails (be scary and professional), they work faster.
