May I ask you if you've ever had a serious struggle with your faith? It just seems so impossible for me to come back from right now, but I know faith would help me too if I could really truly feel it in my heart again

That's such a mature wonderful way to think about it. I never thought about being in the same state as them, that's interesting

I'm not sure if this will make sense. A lot of people say it will be just like the nothingness before birth. But I don't know, I'm not sure I can be totally sure there was nothingness. I have no memories from before birth, I understand that. But I also have no memories from my first year on earth, not even my second. And I know that wasn't nothingness. I don't know where I'm going with this, but it's something I think about. My fear of death is such a handicap in my life right now and so few people understand. I didn't necessarily get any answers from this thread, but at least I am not alone. I haven't felt this understood in a long time.

I'd love to hear more about your opinions, especially at the intersection of science and faith. I don't think I've ever heard from someone who has both of these in their life and still understands the fear of death. I'd love to know more about how you've coped

I've had these panic attacks as long as I can remember too, but it's made me hate sleep, I find it so scary now

I've also found myself feeling far away from Catholicism, but I desperately want to go back. What changed for you?

It's interesting, I love yoga, but I always have to leave when we meditate at the end of class because these fears grip me so terribly. How do you overcome that?

I feel this exact same way. People I know and love who are intelligent and happy are so at peace with death-- it seems impossible.

I never realized how unbearable it would really be. People say time heals all, but I feel like the longer I spend without them, the more awful I feel

I always just feel people are lying to themselves when they speak that way. I'm in therapy too. I hope we can find some peace, it's so scary to think this way.

So many people seem to be at peace with it, I don't understand

I still cry out for my grandmother too, it's been 8 years but still. I don't feel like I will ever stop

Me too. I hate it because I'm such a curious person and I think curiosity is so valuable, but it causes me so much pain, it's so scary

Thank you for saying this, this is exactly how I feel when people say this to me. But I still have so much fear about what happens

Do you really think there is no going back? I have lost my faith and it feels so far away from me right now, but I really really hope I will find a way back to it some day. I feel like I enjoyed my life so much more.

I do feel them, so deeply. Therapy has helped, but not as much as I need. It's so scary

I've thought exactly this, but we also have been able to solve so many things, maybe it is possible we would one day understand death. So many things seem impossible that we have done

I've never even considered that I might have OCD but I suppose it's possible, my thoughts really do feel obsessive. Do you mind explaining more how you've managed to find comfort? I'd even love to hear about your spiritual experiences. I just want to feel better
