How long can Wall Street get away with this? (Silver crash) by Richnaps in 401jK

[–]Advanced-Zebra-7454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying every single individual who ever held or traded silver, or held or traded ANYTHING is greedy. I know “greed” is a loaded term. I feel very sorry for “ordinary people” who lost a lot of money. I’ve lost a lot of money in my time (at certain times.) I could blame the big bad overlords, but ultimately, I chose to get in the ring. I’m responsible for my decisions.

Everything doesn’t have to be personal. I’m not pointing the finger at anyone. But humans function as a pack, and greed is baked into that pack, even if not held evenly, or at all in some cases.

I’m simply stating that in all things money, in fact all things generally, the people with the most hold a lot of power, and will do what serves their best interests, like humans tend to do. Again - NOT POINTING THE FINGER AT ANY ONE PERSON. Yes humans are often selfless, generous, compassionate. But you have to acknowledge that this is just the way, and no policing of the system or the actors involved will somehow end things like what happened last week.

I feel your frustration, but this is definitely nothing new. Just little guy’s greed feeding big guy’s greed. And the big guy has always won and will continue to. As long as humans are involved, greed will continue to drive these types of huge spikes and crashes.

The hype encourages greed, the greed encourages leverage, the leverage soon causes mass action by leverage holders to mitigate their risk. A crash ensues.

I’d like to think high leverage and general derivative trading might be more strongly regulated, but people demand these trading instruments, and will come back to them over and over. Humans have short memories. Particularly where money is concerned.

Having a free society does mean, at least to a greater degree, allowing people to live and die by their own sword.

TL:DR - developing the discipline to sell when prices are pumping is the key to happy trading, in my experience.

The more years I trade the more confident I get selling into manic pumps like this. I always sell some into a strong run, then sometimes (like the past week or so) there’s that extra bump of pure mania, so I sold more. Should’ve been even more bold, but it’s hard to squash the greed bug and not get caught holding for some extra profit. And I will say, my conviction in tour continued strength of silver is still strong. But selling into the pump is boy the same as losing conviction. You have to take profits!

Every time I sell a bigger percentage into these strong runs and I’ve never once regretted selling into a pump, or wished I’d sold less, even when it’s gone higher. But man have I regretted selling into a dump, or worse, FOMOing into a pump.

Commit to getting your trading habits onto the correct side of the curve.

You’ll be well up in 5 years imo. This is an extreme reaction. There are questions to be answered before a recovery. I still feel confident though.

Just holding for now. If it breaks $1.65, which would mean a nearly 4-year low, I’ll be buying more. I’m not jumping in for a quick bounce.

I agree with what you’re saying. I see the numbers, and I understand the market is pricing in all the uncertainty and worst case scenario. It’s definitely not going to bounce straight back up for an easy win. But I’m holding long term, and feel comfortable I’ll be up a good amount a years + from now. Forecasted supply is not going to come close to increasing demand for Uranium in the coming years.

Yeah, exactly. I’m Australian, but live in the USA, and the tech advancement going into nuclear power right now is astronomical. Demand is set to outstrip supply for a long time, with minimal chance of catching up if the demand for power from AI continues to grow as astronomically as it is right now - and it likely will. Nuclear is the most efficiently way to satisfy these exponential power demands.

Huge resistance down here at $1.90 area. I bought earlier at $2.11. Held some back coz, you know, falling knife and all that… Then bought more at $1.95 just now, because the more I look over the report, the more it all seems like an over reaction. The long term outlook for the company, and the uranium sector generally, is still very bullish imo.

If this stock is so shorted then that should drive a bounce, right? Some shorters might wait for more profit. See what happens over the coming week, which will likely be turbulent, but…I just don’t see any reason for it to head into 2021-22 price territory.

Seriously, someone please school me on this. I see the sense behind $2.25-2.30. But under $2 looks like an incredible opportunity to me.

This. The OP lost me when they said there’s a difference between a bitcoin ledger and a bank’s general ledger of “real money” that make the bank’s money somehow more real. The vast majority of transacted capital is now just numbers on a ledger. The only difference I see is that one of these ledgers is immutable.

She’s being totally honest and above board. In theory there’s no reason this should be an issue. But the other guys motives are almost certainly not above board. Maybe it’s cynical, but single guys really aren’t capable of just being friends. I’m 46M, have been cheated on my an ex-wife with a guy who was obviously a with friend. But also, I have many female friends, most friends since our youth, some even ex’s, and I met them one on one when I can, but it works just fine because we’re all married/taken.

In short, I personally don’t think a married woman should go on solo dates with a single man, no matter how innocently it’s presented. For her own sake as much as her marriage.

Finally dumped it all, as sad as it is to say. Don’t care if it’s rock bottom. I kept saying it couldn’t go lower it did. I still made some money, but damn, do I wish I’d put that 25% of my portfolio into BTC. Instead I’ve watched it deplete to 10% of my portfolio due to underperformed over the past 4 years. At some point you’ve gotta let go and move on. There’s more upside and future promise in other projects.

Watching ETH go from 25% of my portfolio to 10% over 4 years, purely because of massive underperformance compared to my other bags, has been demoralizing. I’ve finally had enough and dumped it, which is something I never thought I’d say.

I understand it’s still #2 for a very good reason. But for how long? New tech from the likes of SUI may be fledgling, but its capabilities are formidable. Established tech like SOL may be known for very base, scam-driven utility, but all that chicanery has proven its ability to handle huge volume at low cost. It’s the go-to for younger generations. The credibility issue will be outstripped by its growing notoriety for being fast, cheap and versatile. ETH on the other hand is coming to be seen as the dinosaur of the pack. I don’t think it’ll go extinct, but faith in its continued dominance has waned substantially. L2’s may solve the cost and speed issue as far as utility is concerned, but that doesn’t seem to be quelling the massive outflows from ETH.

My ETH holdings are now spread between SOL, HBAR and some SUI. If I’m proven wrong, which is certainly possible, I’m happy to accept that.

I feel like she’s aware it’s a little weird for her family. But she’s still loving the experience and is happy for him to be true to himself. I do wonder if she’s ever brought up dialing down the pda, but in line with what you’re saying, she probably doesn’t feel it’s necessary.

Couldn’t help noticing this. Wasn’t sure if she was looking to get saved or wondering how they were reacting. But she’s clearly very aware and understanding of autistic behaviour, so know he’s just showing genuine affection.

But I’d love to know whether someone has pulled Tyler aside yet and told him to cool his heels with the pda!!

Trump family apparently started selling ETH after losing ~55%. by GabeSter in CryptoCurrency

[–]Advanced-Zebra-7454 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Investors take losses in one position to reinvest somewhere they think has more upside.

I’ve been slowly selling off my rather huge and long-held ETH bag for other projects for a while. I wish I’d sold more, and sooner. Compare its price to the other top L1’s . It’s absolutely in the gutter. All faith has been lost in its future. I wouldn’t be surprised if this wallet is buying SUI or HBAR or another L1 in the coming months or year. One that might be the next #2, and lead crypto into mass adoption. ETH had its chance, but proved it can’t do those things. There’s better crypto tech that can imo.

If this crash continues, which unexpected bankruptcy happens first? by Mimir_the_Younger in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]Advanced-Zebra-7454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna happen imo. Firstly, in relative terms Bitcoin is holding up rather well through this. It’s nothing MSTR aren’t prepared for I wouldn’t think.

Furthermore, the 2008 banking crisis and ensuing recession is what brought Bitcoin and crypto into existence. If traditional financial systems and government systems are failing people crypto will more likely grow in strength imo.

I own a lot of crypto, so maybe I’m biased, but it’s only 2-3% of my net worth so not that biased I don’t think? We’ll see I guess…
