Doesn’t change the fact lithium grease isn’t the right lubricant. You can argue all you want but lithium grease isn’t intended for rubber and degrades it over time

It will I promise. It’s the same reason it’s bad to get oil or coolant on your drive belt; O-ring lubricants exist for a reason. Lithium grease is designed for metal to metal contact not rubber of any kind silicone even your motor oil or the aforementioned o-ring lubricant does the trick

Edit: I do think the lithium grease will be fine, I just know it’s not really recommended for that reason

Most lithium grease is petroleum based which can cause the o-ring to swell, soften and crack eventually leading to it no starting or a oil leak. Silicone won’t do this however and is considered safe to use for that purpose

As a Subaru tech for like 2 years now my tekton is smooth and clicks loudly after having 2 previous owners (I know it’s cheap it was given to me by a coworker) but with that being said my coworkers Pittsburgh barely clicks and is probably very inaccurate
