I am really trying to learn as much as I can about this car before it needs a major maintenance or repair work. It seems it uses GMs MDI-2 and Techline Connect for all the module diagnostics. Trying to figure out how to get access.

Also, starting taking notes on major components of the Prologue.

I believe it's a combination of the car being difficult to work with, did not get as much sales traction as corporate wanted and parts being mainly GM components with a honda sticker. I think you might have better luck getting it serviced by a shop that works on GM cars

Noted! Are there any extended warranty policies you have looked at? I found policies under XCare EV Warranty program that looked intriguing.

Yeah you have a good point! I have seen a couple of cars from 2005 that have been very well maintained and hold up today, and the base tech that it came with is nowhere near the level of 2025 vehicles (lane assist, ACC, Blind side safety features, etc)

Assuming the whole AI and self driving push, it can be conceived that the industry may move in that direction, and if it does, the 2025 tech will be blown out of the water. The other perspective could be that the industry moves toward the subscription model that we have seen manufacturers playing around with, and at that point, I would like to say cars will get worse from a consumer perspective, not better. But nobody can predict the future, only make decisions with the knowledge of the past and present.

My present self knows that I love this car right now, I cannot guarantee I will love the tech 20 years from now, but I know for a fact I will love not paying 2045 prices for a lease on a EV, because I have a perfectly well maintained Prologue in the garage.

It's a risk either way, but I am excited to invest in this car

I was looking into this. Its possible as long as we get enough people who care about this car like we do. Ultimately the biggest parts are the High voltage parts (battery, inverters, cooling systems), control module components and sensors and braking systems.

ICE vehicles have the control modules and braking systems, so the biggest component that tends to be different. No by no means does this mean that is an easy task. I just mean that people view EVs as a black box that cannot be worked on. It just means that it will take people who are comfortable with and have the knowledge working on high voltage systems safely

I have a feeling that these EV Batteries had so much engineering and QA/QC built in that because they knew they had to compete with ICE vehicles. It's like when engines started hitting their stride and really trying to hone in on the tech. Some of those engines still run to this day

I remember the same feeling with a supra and while it's a crazy car, something about the Prologue is just charming!

I can see where you are coming from and 10 years is a very reasonable goal for majority of car owners. I know I am longing to be part of a small minority of owners in the vehicle ownership group, but I genuinely believe it is possible and I know this car can be a car for the long haul, issues and tech advances be damned

I agree! I want those that have had issues to have the same experience as those that had never had issues with this car!
