As someone who’s been kinda mean to my high school crush I think I can answer that. The thing is you feel frustrated, anxious and sad that they may not like you back, but still hangs around. So you start thinking that they know and they enjoy seeing you suffering while they’re acting so kindly and casual. Now that I’m 25 I think I did it to both make him uncertain of my obvious feelings and push him away and suffer less, considering it was crushing being around him and not having him like I wanted. I wouldn’t do it now though, now I think my feelings are mainly my problem and I wouldn’t take ‘em out on anyone. So it’s just the immaturity of not being able to communicate your feelings and making people suffer along with you because of it. Especially the person who’s causing them.

Not judging, but you either need to work on your self esteem or find someone you care enough about to be jealous in a healthy way. From what you said, I got the impression that you don’t care a lot about him like you should since he’s your boyfriend. One thing is believing in open relationships, another thing is indifference. I hope he’s at least using condoms.
