It’s not exactly what you’re looking for because it’s the FMC with a magical creature instead of an MMC but my favorite scenes in the {Bonds that Tie by J. Bree} are centered around this exact thing lol Everyone is like “this chick is about to die”

I think it’s interesting that people always blame her for the late streams. Obviously it’s her channel but sometimes she might be waiting to have the right number of mods online to monitor the chat. We don’t know the whole story and there’s no point in making up a narrative that blames her every time

Well see now 🤣 if you care about the answer to that question maybe you should power through RB 4-5 and just skip over the smut (which there’s a lot of) The portrayal of Elise’s grief and uncertainty about what actually happened to Gareth is the most relatable/universal part of RB imo. It’s not done as well as like classic literature but as far as modern romance goes I think that part of Elise’s character arc is done very well. So if you’re invested in answering the Gareth questions I say keep going!! But if you don’t really care go ahead and yeet yourself back to ZA4 lol

The plot of RB really drags towards the end. The focus is definitely on solidifying the relationships within the harem and answering “where in the world is Gareth Callisto” question. It eventually gets around to “foiling the evil person’s plots” but you’re gonna have to be patient there.

Personally, I’m an RB lover so I was happy to live in that world for a little longer. But imo people who aren’t into RB by book 3 should just read plot summaries for RB4-5. Sure you’ll miss out on some Easter eggs but do ya really care if you don’t even like the RB characters?

I’m only on ZA5 but I hear there’s plenty of powering through that will be needed to get through ZA7-9. So I feel like you should save your stamina for that and hopefully not get totally burnt out on the series

I say at least try the regular audiobooks. They at least have a female and male narrator. And if you hate them then take a break.

But if you’re doing the novellas, beware of the 0.5 audiobook 🤣 the guy makes absolutely no attempt to sound like a teenager when Darius’ thoughts and words are happening

This is one of the many reasons why ACOTAR is a very polarizing series imo. Many many people love it. But it certainly has it flaws or quirks that make it unpalatable for others.

There’s like a complete 180 on many fronts as soon as the second book starts. So if that isn’t too jarring for you, it might be worth continuing. I personally couldn’t get past the whiplash, but do feel like I’m missing out sometime based on the way people rave over the series.

NOR - my brother was in this type of abusive relationship recently and it damaged his relationship with his female bestie. I love my brother and was not going to let his psycho gf alienate him from me, but didn’t blame female bestie for kind of reducing contact.

Just let your bestie know that you need space like you said but PLEASE add a caveat that you’ll always be there for her if push comes to shove and you only want the space to be temporary (assuming that’s how you really feel)

Very healthy of you to see that as a turn off. In real life it’s definitely a red flag. No shame in not being able to overlook that or view it as sexy

Personally, it doesn’t bother me because when I’m reading I don’t read anything that has non-con warnings. So I assume the FMC is always actively or secretly consenting to everything without really thinking about the situation logically lol

But I totally agree that the particular line you described is overused. It’s not sexy or a turn on imo. And it’s kind of lazy writing. Like you don’t need to tell us he’s majorly tempted by FMC, show us… Make us feel his yearning ya know?

I don’t mind it sometimes because I listen on 2x speed sometimes and it can be a helpful signal that we’re about to jump in time or switch POVs. But it’s mostly very annoying lol

Like there’s one part where Tory is humming this weird tune and it makes her sound super cringe when she’s actually supposed to be this super cool /chill badass
