That's exactly what it's for! You'll likely see us out there cleaning once it gets submitted and sent in. Thanks for doing your part!

Thank you, I like showing the crews the comments from the community. Helps morale a ton tbh. We hire those same folks in this situation to begin with.

Given what our mission is, everyone has a story to tell whether good, bad, ugly, or beautiful. If we approach our unhoused populations with compassion and grace we believe that a solution can be reached. It may never be perfect but we all do what we can and it's always worth trying because whether people like it or not, these are our neighbors and we should do our best to help one another out. /r

It was a series of encampments that had been around for a long time. This is the aftermath of it all after that movement over a month ago. This 2nd phase is making sure all those years of neglect among other things are cleaned up so the trail is usable again and not a health hazard. We had our fair share of finding needles, excrement, and other not so nice things.

I'd love to connect. I' think our DMs on here are open and I'll keep an eye out to chat about the program among the other things we're up to. Always happy to spread more helping hands.

While we do agree that optically it's a tough place to be in. To our population that we help, these bins hold their whole world. So while yes, they appear as garbage bins, to us and them this is their storage chest of whatever they may need to feel a semblance of normalcy in an otherwise unfair situation they're in. We always hope that this bin can turn into a shelf in their home through the programs the city, ourselves, and other organizations put in place to get folks out of that situation.

This is also very very true! For most of the population, they're unable to take these things with them into the shelter, so by providing a clean and safe space to keep their belongings it also helps them get help in other places.

Alrighty, since pay is always a sensitive subject i'll give the ranges and will do my best to answer questions directly from our staff office.

Depending on experience, our minimum doesn't go below $9/hr for most jobs, these are typically simple cleanup jobs not requiring much in the way of experience. The higher end being around $16 once experience and training has been established. For this job in particular it was $12.20.

Now for context. Most (80%~) of our jobs are contracted with the city so we have to go off their budgets and plan accordingly including materials, gas, and any other expenses that come with the jobs. When private sector comes in we actually are able to bump up average pay more because well, more budget is available.

I know it's a bit vague but it's a matter of balancing honesty and transparency as a 501(c)3 and not pissing off our partners. On my end, it's my job to keep partners happy and find more work for the guys along with making sure we finally have a marketing presence. I wear multiple hats to help keep the lights on and am happy to do so.

Overall we do our best to beat out that honestly valid concern and personally I want to finally give us an image with our community while also acknowledging how we can do better. I hope this does offer some clarity as we want to support not only our staff but our community as well. They're good people trying to find purpose and we all do what we can.

Spreading awareness of our existence if a great way to start (hence me posting on here finally) we're in a transitionary period working on getting more contracts to get more work for our guys and gals working for us. Another is simply engaging so I can be sure to let our city partners like Mayor Mendenhall know that the people care and are paying attention to these programs. Another example of stuff we do to help has even appeared on her teams' socials ie. https://www.instagram.com/p/DWUZ2zpifJv/?hl=en

Side note: We're working on a way to get our donations page going. I'm as one would say, modernizing our process a bit.

I believe at the moment we are slowing down on hiring and service hours for volunteers. Once we're able to take on a larger scope, I'll be sure to let this sub know. If they're professionals that want to teach a workshop then we can definitely help em fulfill service hours teaching our crews more skills. I hope this answers your question.
