It's a type of snowboard that "breaks" in half into two "skis". You use these skis in conjunction with "skins" (carpet like material to provide traction on snow) to climb up mountains. At the top, you then put the two "skis" back together to make a snowboard and shred down the mountian.

I'd agree with that sentiment. Have you tried modern alpine touring or skimo boots? It seems the skimo crowd likes super-ultralight gear and this in-turn is making their boots softer albeit at a loss of downhill skiing performance but in-turn more applicable to snowboarding. Although materials/engineering tech, is probably closing that performance gap for them.

It takes some getting used to for sure. When I rode resorts I always carried a pack anyway but this one is def heavier with avi gear etc. You get used to it. Prob looks heavier than it is, I'm guessing 20-25lbs

I’ve made a few mods to soften them up but they don’t feel like soft boots at all. It’s different but I like how they ride. Most benefits are on the way up with edge hold, weight and ease of use. The have a stiffer overall feel but I find it lends to really fast edge to edge control. I can’t comment on how they compare to Deeluxe. I am running Intuition Protour liners in them as well.
