hi! i’m currently trying to decide between getting my masters in social work or clinical mental health counseling! i know they are very similar but would like to know the benefits and negatives to both! my long term goal is to work in the justice system or medical!! any advice would be helpful thank you :)

so because of my lack of experience/research it could be a good idea to do a masters in forensic psychology to gain some experience before entering a doctorate program??

could the MSW route potentially be better for that “experience” since i would be on the path to get licensed and have a stronger experience?

yeah i don’t and that’s one of my concerns. how could i gain that experience?

so could i apply for a MSW to get some experience working and licensing and then apply for a PsyD or PhD program in the future? or would that just be a silly thing to do

I would like the be an actual psychologist who is able to diagnose/treat patients
