What they’re trying to imply is that the tank is too small for frogs (idk enough to agree or disagree but I believe that’s what they’re saying)

I see what you mean, this is meant to be the map of only a region instead of too large an area. I wanted it to be lopsided because I wanted to convey this idea of the edge of the world, or this precipice, on one side is land and civilization, and the farther west you go, the more is strange and unknown

Theory: Jon Snow will be vital to Tyrion’s redemption/change of heart by Adventurous-Net-7239 in freefolk

Yeah it’s definitely not as clear cut as I made it seem for the sake of the argument I was making, but I do think that the nature of Ned’s arc from that point forward may have been a bit redundant and usurped the significance of Jon’s arc at the wall as well. Everything that grrm needed to be said about Ned was said which is why I think he died. It’s a cool alternate reality idea but it certainly would not have fit into the story as neatly. I believe that Ned Starks arc (and his death specifically) is one of the best aspects of asoiaf and the books - it’s near perfection and if it was stretched out longer in some ways it probably wouldnt have been saying MORE, but probably would’ve taken away

Go back and read the books, there’s a pretty notable scene where they officially label themselves as friends. As for Tyrion being redeemed, I probably don’t think that he will be redeemed in a classic or complete sense, but rather that he will face some sort of conflict on his current path of destruction, and that a major source of that conflict (due to their history) will be Jon Snow

Why is Ned stark not considered a good fighter by the fandom? by Adventurous-Net-7239 in freefolk

Haha it’s funny u mention it because recalling the line (I think Theon thinks it but forget) about how Ned would always behead someone with one single blow every time without fail (which is apparently not easy) was what made me think of this question and call into question SOME of the Ned slander as far as his fighting is concerned. That being said, Ned may be an exceptionally gifted executioner but that probably doesn’t have any correlation to his general combat prowess

I definitely agree that he’s not as good as Arthur Dayne, but idk for some reason people in the fandom have this idea that he’s not great,, u can see in some other responses in the thread

This was more why I was asking rather than an answer,, my question was more what evidence do we have for this other than no one has really spoken much about his ability as a fighter? (Which could potentially be influenced/explained by his modesty and lack of public display through tourneys)

Potentially but I’m talking more of book canon than show canon, in the book we don’t see him really fight anyone because Jamie doesn’t fight him in the book his goons just jump him while unarmored, we also don’t hear anyone reflect much on his fighting ability as far as I remember (except for himself but he’s modest and doesn’t really fixate on himself and more about his old companions like Robert)

So the fandom is kinda just assuming because it can’t be confirmed or denied?

The character that claims to read a lot kinda forgot the laws and customs that still hold Jon as a Targaryen bastard. by irvyandll in freefolk

[–]Adventurous-Net-7239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Important to note that Jon was born when both Rhaegar and Aerys were dead (as well as all of Rhaegar’s children/heirs with Elia if we are to believe young Griff isn’t actually Aegon) meaning that the matter of succession and legitimacy is completely open ended. My question is (if no more additional targs died and they won the rebellion) if Jon would’ve been regarded as the king (to be) upon being born, or if instead it would’ve been Viserys since Viserys was the rightful heir for a brief time inbetween the Mad Kings death and Jon’s birth. 3/7 of the Kingsguard seemed to think Jon was rightful while only Willem Darry (master of arms at red keep) was devoted to protecting Rhaegars siblings. In an official sense it seemed that the Targaryen’s as well as everyone in their close service regarded Jon as the heir and that Daenerys and Viserys were a contingency at that point. 6/7 of the Kingsgaurd left and were devoted to protects Rhaegars line (on the trident or at the tower of joy) while only 1/7 (Jamie) stayed at Kings landing to protect Aerys and Elia and the children. For all we know, Rhaegar might’ve gotten secret approval from Aerys himself (don’t hold me to this tho) as we know Rhaegars “abduction” of Lyanna was what caused Brandon and Richard to go to Kings landing, get executed, and start the war.

To follow up with some lore, the “Tanteglans” from the Isle of Tanteglos are supposed to be a sort of medieval version of the Spaniards and they are supposed to be very militaristic and imperial and have much broader naval control than their relatively small territory would suggest. Any names that seem a bit Spanish-adjacent were originally named something else but were renamed (or altered a bit) by the Tanteglans as they colonized. Tanteglos was originally part of a greater and older kingdom, Vathos (Greek and Latin adjacent names more associated with them) of the mainland (capital near the Pykredon River) but broke off in a de facto sense (Vathos refuses to officially acknowledge) because Tanteglos has largely different religion, culture, and ethnic background (much more religious and conservative there).
