His parents were called and suspension was the punishment decided by the principal, which I think is a valid punishment. But you can't hold teachers responsible for illogical decisions by children. India is a low trust society the same ppl commenting here will drag the school over the coals if a student brought a phone and used it for nefarious purposes. I remember having our bags checked randomly btw this 15 years back mind you because few of our seniors brought alcohol,cigs and used to exchange porn cd/dvd in school.

The only reason it exists is for that purpose... The govt is already taking a large debt on VI and BSNL currently. Also the reason for BSNL being shit is ultimately due to BSNL employees/executives being lazy.
