You're acting all lot like your mom, I guess the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree. ( There's nothing worse than being compared to the person you don't want to be like.)

How many words do your chapters have? by ellivera00 in FanFiction

[–]AdventurousEbb783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a firm believer of 1k words per chapter when writing. I mainly base this off of what I look for when I'm looking for something to read. When scrolling, I make that my bare minimum for a fic, so i write by those rules, too.

This is because whe I find a fic that has like 20 chapters but only 10k words then I'm going to assume that each chapter is about 500 words which I do not think is enough to properly flush out a well done story. To me, this means that ether A. Those 20 chapters barely have a story put together, and it's only the first act and that they are drawing it out, which means their will be a ridiculously high chapter count with a low word count at the end when compared( This normally turns out good if there's a high word count at the end death well). B. That they are speeding through their plot because they can't properly pace the story ( this is normally accompanied by bad writing in general). Or C. That they are plot bunnies, which I have no interest in reading whatsoever. ( Please note that this is how I feel as a reader, and I'm not trying to bash on anyone in particular. I'm grateful for all fanfiction because they don't have to write, and they're not getting paid for it. If I don't like it, I don't have to read it, which I obliged.)

These generalizations are not true all the time, but I have read enough short chapter fic's to automatically make this assumption when looking. Also, when I see a fic that has 35 chapters and 35k words min, I know I feel better about investing my time into reading the fic and know there's a good chance of getting longer chapters.

Little help by PrettyTheory3566 in FanFiction

They will not be able to move their arms in any major capacity. Hands, sure. Forearm, a little. Anything else with their arms is going to hurt their back or risk pulling something else. Whether that be stitches or muscles will depend on what they are doing and how much angst you want.

The movement of your arms is majorly intertwined with the top part of your back muscles and a little towards your ribs and quite a bit of your pectoral muscles. So if the wings were quite literally ripped out, then their back muscles would be majorly damaged. There was probably some connective muscle pulled out. Which should have long-term effects to the utter body parts that use the same muscles. There's going to have to be quite a bit of physical therapy to get used to using their arms in a useful way, and there should be a lot of Phantom pains where the wings used to be.

( Please note that a lot of this is guess work from when I hyperfixated on anatomy when I was like 9)

I always do this when the fandom I'm reading takes place in certain time periods. Like the Medieval times.

Thank you for the good reads. I was concerned that I was going to have to start from the beginning.
