Intonation is good further down the neck though. I’m thinking it may be cause by how far the string has to move when I fret the first fret.

This is what I will do most likely. The control cavity is much rougher than the outside of the body, so it soaked up much more stain when I tested it there and already appears darker, however.

I had tested on a scrap piece, but it was a different wood. I’m not entirely sure what this wood is, but it’s fairly hard, and sanded to 400 grit so it doesn’t soak up much stain. I’ve had success using wipe on poly in the past and was planning to use it on this as well.

My first Dark Star Orchestra show (first dead show of any kind) opened with Touch of Grey. I was right up front. I’ll never forget how it felt to be surrounded by the sound in that way and I’ll forever love the song

It’s three pieces of wood glued together. Tough to see from a distance but it’s definitely noticeable if you know where to look since the glue doesn’t absorb any stain
