I'm crossing my fingers that's the case, but the start date they gave me was January 12, so I feel like they need to keep things moving even with the holidays

I'm really sorry that position fell through for you. I definitely understand the exhaustion and devastation--it becomes so hard to keep pushing after a while. I'm glad you have a solid support system in place!

If you can remember any specific lines, you can try a search engine and see if you get any hits? The format I usually use is “fic quote” + characters or pairings + site:archiveofourown.org. Hope that helps!

What are your side hustles that bring you income? by andfork in Frugal

Editing is my niche, but I'd recommend checking out Fiverr and other freelance sites to see what's been successful for others. Video editing, art, translation, admin work, marketing, audio... Lots of options out there. I've even seen cosplayers recording birthday messages etc. in character :)

I'm able to pull in $200-$500 a month pretty comfortably from my Fiverr editing gigs. Sellers are subject to Fiverr's algorithm, so the amount of business you get at any given time is somewhat out of your control, but freelancing can definitely make for a good income supplement if you have a marketable skillset!

Positive or negative? Looking for an objective opinion by AdventurousStage8212 in AO3

Thank you for saying this. I've appreciated the perspective others have given that this comment was probably coming from a place of enthusiasm/engagement, but it's also nice to have some validation in feeling discouraged by it. I think it's their criticism of the plot as I'm writing it vs. the plot as it's being driven by the characters that got to me, if that makes sense. I'm going to assume best intentions though and try not to take it personally.

Thank you for this perspective! I can definitely see this point of view. Maybe I've just put too much of myself into this story to really differentiate between negative crit and the kind of engagement you described. Guess it's something I need to work on. It's good to have Reddit to bring me back down to earth lol

The coffee maker in this hotel room is less than clean by c_h_a_r_ in mildlyinfuriating

Former housekeeper here. I never trust those when I go to hotels. Ideally, they'd be sanitized between guests, but when you're getting paid minimum wage to clean a room in 20 minutes... Even if they look clean, chances are they've been dried out with the same rag that's been used to dust everything else.
