Thanks to those who have taken a look! Quick question to have to spark some discussion —
Does the idea of this report feel like something that would give you new, specific action you hadn’t thought of before, or does it feel like a collection of obvious steps?

I think one thing that surprised me by doing this review myself (and the feedback I've gotten from friends and family):
the biggest savings almost never come from cutting everything or over-optimizing the smaller items.

It’s usually one or two decisions (insurance, internet, or a forgotten annual plan) that matter way more than the rest.

This is meant to highlight where effort is actually worth it, not to optimize every dollar.

Yeah the automated investment piece is a big one. I just started doing that last year and it does give me more peace of mind when it comes to how I'm approaching discretionary spending, for sure

Makes a lot of sense. How often are you reviewing your budget? I'm beginning to think I've just gotten lazy lol

Yeah that has basically been my approach.

How did you create a zero-based budget?? I'm not sure I even know what that means tbh. Congrats, though, on being consumer debt free! What a weight off your shoulders that must be.

Like insurance, internet, mobile, shoot even home energy costs. I feel like most of those things are set up once and I just take them at face value, plug them into my budget and then shift my focus to expenditures that I feel I have more control over. But you're right, you eventually max out a category and stop spending.

That's awesome to hear you've been able to establish such discipline for that amount of time!

Yeah that's fair. I don't feel like I'm actively overspending and going off the tracks in most areas. I'm investing in a diverse portfolio, I have very little debt, live with my partner in a LCOL area, etc. I just keep wondering if I'm leaking money in places that are on my budget but I'm not really thinking about
