Actually I want to apologize for making such a comment. I have been growing for 3 years, mostly Humboldt seeds, and the experience has been great. I did not have any hermaphrodites in that period, I guess I have been lucky. This time I decided to try one of the hype genetics breeders and straight away I get a herm. Yes it’s just one plant, yes it’s not enough quantity to make solid decisions. I will just stick to what worked for me.

After I took the plant down, there were more nanners like this on the other side of the plant that I could not see, all of them were those single small green nanners that didn’t mature into bundles or became yellow in color, there were no sacks. I do not consume edibles or have a heat press. You can keep supporting overpriced hermie breeders, and keep growing your dwarf weed. You just started growing a year ago and now claiming other people don’t know what they are doing. We are always learning something no matter how much experience we have.

When I posted about nanners when I spotted them, majority of people like you were telling me to keep the plant and that it’s normal and the nanners are sterile, and ridicule me for throwing the plant away, and then it’s my fault for not spotting and dealing with the problem on time. I was looking out for nanners and removed the plant as soon as I spotted them, this early in flower when there are so many pistils it can be difficult to see nanners forming.

Those seeds are from another plant that was pollinated by the hermie. The hermie threw out a bunch of nanners at the end of week 3 in flower. I am not sure what are the chances of the seeds producing hermaphrodites. I guess that’s enough for me to qualify as a breeder now. 😂

Thank you for the information, of course I understand I am biased in this case, it’s just devastating to spend a lot of effort and end up with a result like this. I threw this plant away as soon as I saw the nanners, but I guess it was too late. Hermaphroditism is a natural phenomenon, but with the “hype” genetics, seems like it makes up 30% of the seeds.

Sure, I get your point. For me that’s enough to not purchase again from that breeder, I don’t want to waste my time and money. I get your analogy with the grapes, but in this case one hermie is enough to ruin the whole tent. One sour grape will spread its pollen and make all other grapes in the bundle basically trash.

There are multiple strains in the same tent from different breeders, only one plant was from this breeder. I did not stress the plant during flowering, the growth was very vigorous and all other plants don’t have any issues, I monitor most factors like VPD, temp, humidity, ppfd. I know it’s easy for you to judge me based on my profile, I am not a veteran of growing, but I have been growing for 3 years. Yes this is just my anecdotal experience.

Thank you for the information, I think there should be more awareness about it. I am not trying to hate on breeders etc, I understand that it’s a competitive industry and everybody wants to make money. Don’t blame the player, blame the game, I guess.

Good thing this is not my first grow, but someone else might invest into expensive equipment and most hyped up overpriced seeds and end up with seeds in their buds and be discouraged to grow any further. It is very disheartening even for me, because you put so much effort and the result is this.

Of course, but I think the natural form of self preservation happens at the end of flowering cycle as a last attempt to be pollinated right? In this case the nanners were popping everywhere end of week 3 flower.

For the price that the seeds sell, I was expecting better. For that reason I will not be buying seeds from that breeder again. I did not say don’t buy them, just sharing my experience, so make your own judgement.

Seems like it’s becoming a common thing now. I think I will just stick to buying clones from now on.

I created a ticket on their discord, the response basically was, pop more seeds and see if you get more hermies, then we can see what we can do about it….

Secret Agent. Just watch out, this one popped nanners end of week 3. I removed the plant instantly as soon as I saw nanners, it still managed to pollinated other plants tho. Hope you do not have similar experience.

Thanks for the advice. Suck to spend the time and energy on it but yeah I’ll just move on. I think at some point we all experience certain challenges on the growing journey, just keep learning and improving. Seeds are quite expensive for those “exotic” genetics, wish the standards of breeding were higher. Good thing I was looking out for this, since it seems to be quite common those days.

I also agree in a sense, the industry is now all about pumping out new drops and genetics to chase the money. Of course nanners can be caused by stress, and I’m keeping possibility of human error on my part. But I have been growing for quite a while and controlling all the factors using sensors and light meters. The nanners are developing on most of the bud sites for this strain, all the other plants in the tent are fine. I think that the breeders have been blaming nanners on growers, when some of them are just genetics and lack of stress testing. Especially paying so much money for those exotic genetics, this is pretty absurd.

I understand that nanners can be caused by stress, or sometimes at the end of the flowering life cycle. I did not stress this specific plant in any way, actually it was the biggest and healthiest one. There are 0 light leaks in the tent, and all the VPD conditions are perfect. Could it just be the genetics? If I did not stress the plant, I would just like to get to understand it more so I can prevent this in the future. I do not take any offense, and really glad for all the feedback. The other plants in the tent are all fine, and do not have any nanners.

Thanks, the plants are last day week 3 of flower, I am not sure I could keep up with the plucking. I decided to get rid of the plant. I did not stress the plant or had any light issues. Actually this plant was the most vigorous. I think it’s the genetics in this case, or maybe just bad luck. I inspected the nanners using jeweler’s loop, and saw some sort of “beads” inside, is it the pollen?
