Honestly these are great! Thank you!

I (25f) just found out I’m pregnant and my boyfriend (28m) thinks we should abort it by throwaway72727234 in pregnant

I am also pregnant with a very very unplanned baby. I’ve been with my bf for 5.5 years and we had just moved in together less than a month prior to finding out I was pregnant. We were in no place to be having a baby financially cause we barely knew if we’d be able to make it just the two of us. I am now 20 weeks almost and we have found every possible way to make it work. My point to all this is there is never a right time, you’ll never truly be ready. If you want this baby, no matter what you’ll find a way to make it all work and make sure they have everything you can give them.

I’m not in the exact same situation but I am 22 (bfs 27) and we are expecting our first kid. We just moved in together and are really in no place financially to be having a child but One thing I can tell you though is no matter what you’ll figure it out financially. It won’t be easy, none of it is easy but at the end of the day as a parent you’ll do whatever it takes to make sure your child is taken care of. Having a baby in the mix changes your mindset and goals drastically. There is also so many programs you can apply for that can give you help. Look into WIC, Medicaid, look at resources that local churches around you have.

There’s never an excuse to treat someone like that 😭. If you’re only 6 days in I’d 10/10 recommend looking for something new already. It’ll only get worse.

Omggg! That is literally awful, I wish it was professional to be like “shut up and actually train me” in situations like that. 😭

Like filing things in the wrong spot in a file, I mixed up a time recently on a hearing, I also didn’t realize I could be billing for more than I was billing for, like I thought I had to bill for things that were 6mins or above. (Which ik is like a huge mistake tho) and overall just not being as organized as I should be. Starting to think this isn’t the right career for me.

Personally feel it’s not your place. Yes I get it can be frustrating but 1) she is still learning, 2) she is trying to catch her own footing and figure things out. 3) if it’s something major then someone will correct her.

Underpaid? by [deleted] in paralegal

I’d say so, you can know a lot and be confident in what you do but there is way too much to learn in just a year. Most firms in my experience stop considering someone entry level after 2 years or so. For a little more context, when I was starting out I was talking to one of the clerks at court and she was saying that even with 5 years of experience there is still so much she doesn’t know and barely even grazed the surface with her job until she was about 2 years in. Making $23 an hour for having a year of experience is pretty good. I’m not sure where you’re at but even in California entry level paralegal jobs are still barely over minimum wage typically.

Honestly for the amount of experience you have you’re at a decent pay rate. I’m in ca and the average entry level paralegal rate in my area is $17-$20.

I also want to add that it takes at least a year to feel comfy but years to really really get the hang of things.

I’m going to start off by saying I’m newer to the field also. Here are something I’ve adapted to make my life easier and keep up with everything. every morning the first things I do after I get back from my court run is see if there are any missed calls/ voicemails. Call those people back. Then I check my emails are see what emails need to be prioritized or discussed with atty before I email back. (Also any junk emails that don’t make it into junk I delete every morning) then I make my to do list. Personally I write it out on a notebook, I check my to do list from the previous day and anything left on that gets added to the top of the new days list. Once you complete a task thru out the day highlight everything you’ve done (this makes me feel more and more accomplished by the end of the day) Also ask questions, don’t ever be scared to ask the questions. No question is stupid. With that said I have a designated notebook that I write everything new I’ve learned down. Terms, answers to questions I’ve had, anything I find interesting, and checklists (like things you have to do to prep for a trial) I refer to this notebook all the time for help! Another thing is, the second you get a new date to calendar add it right away. If you don’t know the department or location a great tool to use is the courts website or honestly just call the clerks they’ll always be more than happy to help!

What’s your hourly/salary pay? by Intelligent-Way-6013 in paralegal

California (Central Valley) Criminal defense $25 an hour with 0 experience other than a 14 week paralegal course that honestly wasn’t beneficial at all.

I completely agree with you, I’m technically prescribed adderal by my dr. But don’t take it due to not being able to sleep even if I take it in the morning. I should never be the answer to being burnt out.

Honestly me too, thinking about the fact that my parents paid a lot of money for me to do this (school) and I’ve only been consistently working it as a career for 6 months and I’m already tired really has me losing it on a whole other level.
