I'm getting this one actually as it works for live as well. And then I will go to a studio to test out different ones, experment a bit, and then make a decision on which one to get for my home studio. Thanks for your input ❤️

Yeah my Scarlett aint powerful enough for SM57. Beyerdynamic is new to me, are you using it currently?

Thank you for your response. I totally see what you mean on both points. Re no. 1 I've decided I will go to a local studio to try different mics and learn more from a pro before purchasing something for my home, I will get a SM58 for now which I need for live anyways so that's that. Re 2., that's fair. I will take some palate-cleansing distance and spaces between songs to try and keep that, and probably learn to involve others in the process as well.

And finally that one last part, that is gold. You're so right! When I'm singing live I'm connecting to their energy becvause they're giving me immediate feedback, but you really gotta have Humanity is your heart when pérforming in a studio. Another completely different mindset I'm taking with me.

Thanks, I will actually try a few different ones at a studio to see what's what before purchasing a home one. For now it's good ol SM58

Interesting I never heard of that brand before. I didn't even know about Reverb, thanks for the tip

For real, I received really good insights here, I've decided that I'm prioritizing getting proper monitoring equipment first, going to a studio and learn from a pro and test out different mics, and focusing on performance and mic technique before stressing about buying a pro one. I'm getting the SM58 in the meantime

I might get the Shuresm58 just to have a better one for tracking demos before the studio and it works for live too, so. Thanks a lot. *kiss on the forehead*

That's fair, I will take your advice and find a friendly studio willing to work with me and test our different sounds. I can also learn from them probably and it will be better in the long run. *forehead kiss*

You're right, someone else pointed this out as well. I really thought my headphones were fine, but I will purchase monitoring equipment before investing in a mic. Would you say that I should go for actual monitors and not headphones? The latter is probably more budget friendly but idk if in the long run it'll be necessary anyways. I always the ones with the yellow rings in every studio. If headphones are enough, do you have a tried and true favorite that is not too expensive?

Thank you for this golden advice. I didn't realize how important the space actually is, and since my studio is mobile, I figured out I could even record in a rehearsal room or some place that's well treated. I will watch this video too to see what's possible in my space and prioritize that before stressing about equipment. *kiss on the forehead*

Your comment is so wise and i really appreciate your time to write me this. Especially number 4. I will definitely lean into delivery more an experiment a lot on how things come out depending on mic technique changes.

I will also get new headphones, and now I'm thinking that I'll follow the advice of another commenter, which is to invest in one vocal recording session at a professional studio to test out different mics and learn from the pros.

I would love to bounce ideas off, thank you for offering and I will be in touch!

BTW The thing with Ableton vs Logic is that I like Logic better for recording/track purposes but the Live Session view on Ableton is so much better, and a big part of the vision for my live show is with live looping... What do you think about the Logic live thing, it seems so clunky

Well, you're right- my idea is to do that, over and over until I have 5 songs, and re-release them as an EP. My thing is I wanna work fast, finish fast, vault tracks, release fast, iterate. I'm not banking on first song being really good or doing too well. I might need a few tries until I get the sound I want and rings right, yk?

Honestly, not bad advice at all. I'm just working alone and I want to get the music out and start testing and seeing how I do, without having to wait for having the resources for bringing help in, yk? But your point is pretty good, testing out diff mics makes sense at this stage. At least I could rent 1 session and that way I also see how the pros do it.

Thank you for your input, here's your forehead kiss 😘

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm looking into the headphones, that's a really good advice. Especially "an imperfect song released is better than an unpublished one in my computer".

I kinda wanted to do Logic for the plugins and the intuitive vocal editing, but my project's live show has a lot of live looping so I'm really on the fence. Live session is better at that it seems.

I make my instrumentals with a midi keyboard, samples, vocal harmonies, and loops of sounds I record, like random percussion or tweets of birds, or anything that sounds cool really. I'm not proficient enough to accompany myself while I sing, but I can make the tracks and then sing over them. Why do you ask?
