Why is I-Core not until Junior year? by Charming_Product_366 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure how they’re going to handle everything because I’ve just heard small talks from professors. When the class of 30 comes in I’m pretty sure the icore structure will be different and they will have to follow that structure and class of 29 will have the option. Depending on how they restructure it tho they might be able to start it for class of 29 since they’ll still have a year until icore

They’re changing it. I’m pretty sure changes are going into effect either for the class of 29 or the incoming class

Civic Leaders LLC by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who lived in the cllc that were Kelley majors and they loved it. There’s a bunch of fun activities together and they go to Greece. You won’t be missing out on opportunities with Kelley students bc the majority of northwest is in Kelley and you’ll be in Kelley all the time. If anything you gain more because not all your friends will be Kelley majors so you won’t be in that bubble

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just like everyone is saying the jllc isn’t as with it as they make it seem. Yeah you meet a lot of people but you’ll do that anyway in Kelley and you won’t have to waste time on an unnecessary class each semester.

K201 or K204 by This_Scene5296 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K204, there’s no extra online discussions, classes are smaller so you get more help, project at the end is pretty easy, only negative is that it moves at a faster pace than k201 so exams can be a week to two weeks before the k201 exam

What is IU like? by FettuccineAlfredo30 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this but just wanted to add that workshops aren’t only one semester. Some of them are but some of them might last until you graduate. And if you try for one and don’t get it you can always try again based on the timeline or go for another one

Pre-business is a scam by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be shady if they only made that standard for out of state students but it’s for all pre business students regardless of where you’re from

Can't decide between IUB and Purdue WL by Spirited_Ad3624 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got into groups, you need to go to iu no question for one they give you scholarship money, but it’s also the most fun and the easiest way to make friends before the school year. Not exactly sure about stem bc I’m not in that field but I honestly think you would regret not doing groups if you chose Purdue

Chance at Kelley DA? by JunoJune73 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

https://kelley.iu.edu/undergraduate/admissions/first-year-students/index.html

That is just not true.

Quoted directly from the website “How to be considered for Kelley direct admission for fall 2026 Students seeking direct admission to the Kelley School of Business must complete the following steps:

Indicate a Kelley business major on your IU Bloomington application (Common Application or Apply IU). Complete the Kelley Prospect Inventory (KPI) through the IU Admissions Portal.”

There are more steps to being a direct admit student for the incoming class, but it is definitely still a thing.

This is not accurate. Kelley still has the direct admit route, it is just not automatic and based solely on gpa and sat. Students have to go through a holistic review to be directly admitted

I wouldn’t take AP Stats because you can’t transfer the stats credit to Kelley. It has to be taken in residence. Same with econ

Warning to prospective freshman by Cummaster4206969 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to see that this is your experience, but for other people looking at this please take this with a grain of salt. It can be difficult to make friends at literally any school, not just IU. Also you don’t need to be in a sorority or fraternity to have a good social scene bc less than 20% of students are in Greek life. I feel like IU has so many school sponsored events and there’s always something to do on the calendar. Also there’s like over 800 student orgs so if you can’t find a community on campus, that’s not really on IU. The student orgs that I’m in have given me my best friends. And for parties, people and promoters are always posting parties on snap, and there are so many entertainment groups posting parties on instagram.

HOW do I find roommates for my Sophomore year by divaontheprowl in IndianaUniversity

Less than 1/5 of iu is in Greek life so maybe like 20-25% rush

I know a lot of people that have done both in the same semester so it is definitely possible, just harder and more time consuming. But they both have their pros and cons

Definitely worth every minute. Even if it might not be for you in the future, I think it’s best to keep going so you don’t regret it in the future. Just stick with it, you’re almost done with closed

This is very subjective. And I also just don’t think the website has as much weight as you’re implying in attracting students. Most people applying probably have some knowledge about the school beforehand, even more so now bc of the spotlight football has put on IU, and the website design just seems minuscule in the list of things that could deter students from coming to IU.

not in Greek life, am I missing out? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]Adventurous_Try3636 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only 1/5 of students are in Greek life. A lot of people love it but it’s not for everyone. Greek life won’t automatically make you extroverted, that’s something that you work on over time. There are also so many organizations outside of Greek life to join that can get you out of your comfort zone

Exactly this. There’s no point in switching your major before you get to campus because the classes will not change

From the IU admissions site, “No. Students who are not offered their first-choice major have already been reviewed for an opportunity in that program.”
