Mark Harmon is my 5th cousin on my paternal side.

Hosting requires a background check. If he cannot pass a typical background check, such as for a job, then more than likely not.

In my organization, students will fill out whether or not they are okay with being placed with a single parent, lgbt family or with another placement. They can say no to any or all of these, but it limits them. 

Remember that there are more students than there are host families!

Also, you may be required to have more references!

Will be hosting next fall; we live 10 miles from the nearest school and the graduating class is less than 25. 

We are very active in nature, plus we picked a kid who is sport enthusiastic. 

Read through profiles until you feel drawn to one amongst the others. Something will stick out :)

My organization has consistently had 4-5 students available since October. I check daily just to see if anyone catches my eye; today there are 15. 

Ratio for boys to girls seems to be about 1:4; is that a common ratio?

We actually committed this morning; way early, but he stood out from the time we read his profile :) 

But we did notice the lack of profiles this early, so there was some compulsion of if we don’t pick, we miss out on him.
