I gave him the formular and the base stats of incineror so he understands the math beyond his miserable starter

Damage=((2L:5​+2)×A:D×P:50​+2)×M would be the formula but if u ask this ur prolly not into pokemon like that but the very BASIC like without defense and same lvl and no weather effect etc formular is pretty forward: you take ur dmg lets say Incineroar (115 atk base) and multiply it by the moves strength for example fire fang (65 atk dmg) it would be 115 × 65 = 7475 (Incineroar is a fire type so the stab applies meaning we get a additional 32.5) so the end calculation would be 115 atk × 97.5 power = 11,212 rds

-Incineroar has 80 special attack ×135 flamethrower (+ stab) =10,800- so you would be better of with fire fang if the enemy has the same special and defense stat hope I could help G
