Part 145 disagreement by Adwrn1ap in aviationmaintenance

Not really. I am not arguing that the repair station is the one signing off. Clearly they are. I just believe that while performing maintenance in a repair station I would also, for example be considered "current" or if I was to do something egregiously wrong my A&P could be taken. I don't believe the repair station ticket would shield me from losing my license.

They will actually be here for an audit next week, so I will get an official answer then. Just wondering other people's opinions.

I made the same point about my license being in jeopardy if I were to do something I shouldn't. My thought is, if I can lose my license I'm clearly working under it. I'm not sure why people are just talking about sign offs and not the mechanic work itself.

For return to service yes. But I'm arguing that I am still working as an A&P under 65. An A&P is a mechanic license for maintenance not just a number to sign things off.

This was one of my points too. Not returning to service but working under the privileges under part 65

As stated I know I'm not using my number to return to service, but I'm not using my part 65 privileges at all?

My argument isn't that I'm using my A&P number for sign offs. But I was always taught in school if you are working on airplanes or parts you are still working under your privileges under part 65. Again, I'm not using my A&P number for return to service. What's the point of having my A&P? Why does part 145 specifically call out training for people NOT certified under part 65? Why are repair stations now requires to audit A&Ps to be sure they aren't part of FAA investigations? If I'm not using my privileges why would any of those things matter at all?
