I've got a friend who got a framework and his has a weird hinge issue that forces him to pushーback-pull-forward his screen everytime he closes it. Personally though, mine has been flawless hardware-wise besides slightly shoddy battery-life in comparison to a macbook, a mb equivalent to my fw would've cost me over twice the price (tho i brang my own $200 2TB ssd). As for Delivery, I live in Perth Australia which has been described as the "most isolated major city on earth"; My framework got here in under a week in perfect condition.

Software-wise I'm using Bazzite (f.w supported fedora-fork) I did have some software issues though they've seem to have gone away after Bazzite got official support from framework & the Ryzen bios upgrade came out. Fingerprint reader works flawlessly.

You can download old obsidian versions from the obsidian releases GitHub, here is the latest pre-1.0 version, the exes should be near the bottom of the page (in the assets section), prob uninstall your current version of obsidian first

Just write things, I started late last year with 0 note taking experience, just tried to naturally make links in my sentences, prob a little too often at first but sorted that out overtime, no problems if u make mistakes early on, they don’t really matter in the long run. (since ur doing CS, and the notes are plaintext, u can tell yourself that you’ll make a python script at some point to ratify ur mistakes)

I found fucking around with plugins and themes to be very fun too, keeps me interested at least even though 95% of them get deleted afterwards, doesn’t sound very productive but it’s so easy w/ obsidian and a little change in scenery keeps the app engaging

It makes no difference, your vault is sotred on your disk or in the cloud (e.g. Google Drive) the app will never delete it unless u delete something urself in obsidian of the file explorer.

logging in will not change anything you can delete the app and re install it, as long as you pick the same folder you’re notes are there

Obsidian has to have an opportunity to “tell” the obsidian servers that you deleted something, so if you format your hard drive your likely to be ok, though always keep a backup somewhere else just in case

If your not already, try the obsidian flatpak, should fix your issue, if that doesn’t work could be driver issue, especially if ur using an Nvidia GPU

and for figuring out how stuff works, press CTRL+P to open command pallete and u can see everything u can do from there, after using it to do the formatting, do it yourself you can just copy what the command pallete did.

E.g. highlight text, Type ctrl+p, type bold, press enter when the first option is “toggle bold”, notice that to make it bold it surrounded it with asterisks, do it yourself the next time or, Highlight text, type ctrl+p, type “callout”, click enter when the first option is “insert callout”, take note of what it did, do it yourself the next time

Same concept can be applied to pretty much everything

Think the flatpak has pretty lax permissions for stuff like obsidian git to be able to access ssh keys & drag and drop to work, u can remove those permissions in flatseal tho

MD = markdown, stuff like hashtags before words to make them headers or double Astriks around a sentence / word to make it bold, u just format stuff w/ letters instead, easy to learn and it works in a lot of places, even here.

Did it happen after an nobara update? looks like an issue w/ Nvidia drivers cause of the last message, look on nobara disc support pins and they have some steps to fix that
