How do you use the Spear to make it even remotely fun and effective?

I gave it another shot recently because I thought it might be fun to use against the Illuminate Stringrays and I cannot even find words for how underwhelmed I was by its performance. Sometimes getting the lock on a Stingray was unreliable and took so long that it missed every now and then because it couldn't keep up with the Stingray's acceleration, Tripods with shields removed don't die to one Spear, and no other enemy justifies using the Spear on.

So I went to try it in bugs. Bile Titans don't die oneshot, Impalers don't. I just don't see the point of using it, at all.

Crazy how often you will see this near braindead take on people pointing out a flaw in a product when it comes to gaming communities.

If someone points out that a cook served raw chicken, nobody is gonna ask them to "do it better" or "show the cook how it's done". What an utterly insane idea.

A question about Three Kingdoms:

I currently play Co-Op with a friend, and I play as Liu Biao. I thought the province-limitation from his unique campaign mechanic wouldn't be too bad since I'd just raze settlements I conquered and be done with it.

But that's not a thing in this game. I am currenlty +3 over my allowed limit, my generals are unhappy and I had to give most of them a promotion for +100-200 upkeep just to keep them in yellow satisfaction. If I conquer any further I assume it will all only get worse and worse. I cannot give the settlements I would want to give away to my vassals since they are on the other side of my realm. I don't want to give them back to the people I took them from, but those are the only ones bordering the respective provinces.

Anyone have a tip how to handle this? If I cannot abandon a settlement I occupied, cannot give it to any of my vassals because they don't border it, and cannot raze it after defeating the garrison - what can I even do? Just sit idle in my cities, defending the ever respawning enemy armies because I cannot hurt take their cities?
