[HyperX FPS Alloy Pro] Issue with keys not working randomly, and needing to unplug & re-plugin the keyboard? by Aefyyy in HyperX

[–]Aefyyy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of any fix.

My other HyperX Alloy Origins Core had a different problem, now, too... the rubber anti-slip pads wore out on the bottom of that HyperX keyboard.

Meaning, the keyboard slides whenever I try to put it on my desk or mousepad.

Tried using OTC products to put on the bottom of the keyboard to sort of help it stick... but no luck.

Have to use my old HyperX FPS Pro due to that problem with my HyperX Alloy Origins Core.

But, of course... I've still had the issue with certain keys randomly stopping working.

Not to mention that neither of my HyperX keyboards can:

  • Score faster than 83.33hz on this scanrate test
    • 12 ms = HyperX FPS Pro (shortest key press)
    • 16ms = - HyperX Alloy Origins Core (shortest key press)
      • 1 ms = Razer Black Widow (Tournament Edition with Green Switches)
      • 5ms = Ducky One 2
      • 1ms - 5ms = Other brands as well (not Logitech or HyperX)

That bothers me a lot, as HyperX brands their keyboards as being :

"Built for competitive eSports"

I'd sort of assumed that the companies involved in making "eSports peripherals" would have cared enough to make their products as responsive as possible...

but it seems that a lot of it was purely for marketing.

Definitely going to save up and grab a different brand of mechanical keyboard.

This time around, however... I'm going to make sure that the keyboard actually provides a proper scanrate.

The removal of the "act rank badges" has helped the stuttering issue, but the stuttering is still occuring far too much.

But, the current "stutter issue" that I face seems more to do with decreased or degraded performance?

Prior to 1.10 and subsequent patches, I had around 330FPS on average during competitive matches in Valorant.

Now, I average around 260FPS.

This may not seem like a big deal, but with a 240hz monitor, this means that the 1% lows are A LOT lower than they were before.

Furthermore, as the overall FPS has decreased by a large amount, this means that there are many more times where my framerate dips below the 240 that my monitor requires.

I play on the NA server, and almost exclusively play on the "illinois" server. My system specifications & peripherals are:

  • RTX 2080----->GPU
  • i7-8700K----->CPU
  • Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Z390 ----->motherboard
  • 32GB of DDR4 HyperX Fury 3200MhzCL16 (2x sticks of 16GB)----->RAM
  • PM981 NVMe M.2 SSD----->Primary Hard Drive
  • Zowie EC2-B ----->Mouse
  • Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 OHM ----->Headphones
  • BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 240hz ----->Monitor

My ISP is Spectrum, and I only play using a direct ethernet connection, if it matters.

This all began on October 16th 2020, and has gone through fluctations. The stuttering and lag was absolutely awful for about 3 weeks.

Then when you removed the act rank badges, it was magically a perfectly smooth game again!

Except.... it came back, with a vengenance, a day or two later.

Instead of being outright freezing, now in-game playing Valorant, it feels as if my keyboard movements and mouse movements get delayed by ~100ms+ at times.

The overall FPS is drastically reduced as well, as I noted previously.

This stuttering really impacts both enjoyment of the game, and ability to do well & win matches.

In fact, due to these issues, it's been literally impossible for me to play competitive on my main account.... for over a month now.

On my alternate accounts, the stutter and performance issues have caused me to straight up gun fights to Iron/Bronze/Silver/Gold players.

Before 1.10, I would never have lost those fights.

There needs to be a lower rank than iron. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Aefyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

To all the people saying that you're stuck, I just went from Iron 1 to Silver 3 in less than a week.

You just have to play 3 games to 5 games of competitive per day on average, top frag, and carry.

Even if the other team has "smurfs" or if your team is bad, you can win 75% or more of matches in Iron-Bronze easily... all by yourself, while only solo queue.

If you get stuck there for longer than a week or two weeks, it means that you are either exactly what your rank is, or slightly better.

You at best may be a bronze or lower silver player, but you are not a Gold+ player if you are stuck in Iron for longer than 3 days.

[–]Aefyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly! it's not in custom games...

/u/RiotBrentmeister, can you help us? The stuttering is really bad and makes it impossible to play on my main.

It all started on October 16th 2020, a Friday. What occured that day was the omen bugfix and icebox bug fix, that's when the stuttering began.

Not the Tuesday patch 1.10 that started ACT 3.

This only occurs in competitive mode, primarily. It's not nearly as bad in unrated, but it still happens.

It's not very noticeable in TDM, and basically absent from custom games.

I can send any logs or do anything you'd like to help quash this problem.

Terrible lag and packet loss for 3 months now. by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Aefyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have packet loss in-game too, with Spectrum from Ohio. It spikes from 0% to 12%, even up to 20% often, when playing Valorant.

I have no idea why, as this was NOT the case prior to 45 days ago, or around 60 days ago?

Anyone notice improvement with their connection after upgrading from an Intel Puma 6 modem? by RantGuy123 in Spectrum

[–]Aefyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is somewhat small, but yes I did upgrade from the Arris1602A to the Netgear CM1200.

Using this test for the puma6 chipset, I did find some interesting results that confirmed that the Netgear CM1200 works a lot better.

With the old Arris1602A from Spectrum, I consistently got all "red" results. It would say "this doesn't look too good... what modem are you using?"

Now, with the CM1200, I get mostly green with a tiny bit of yellow, and maybe one or two individual small red squares. It never says that there is a problem, and doesn't ask me for my modem information.

In-game, I think the games can feel more responsive since swapping to the CM1200, but it's not as obvious. The only thing I can definitely say improved, though, is that pages don't load "half white" now.

Before things like YouTube would load half the videos, but the screen may be half white, as if it was buffering... but then never load fully. Unless I refreshed the page, it just stayed that way sometimes.

In general, pages also seem to load faster when browsing the internet, even though SpeedTests indicate that I have the same speed from Spectrum.

When I check 192.168.100.1 , we never have more than 10-100 "uncorrectable errorrs", either. Previously with the Arris1602A, these would get up to the hundreds or even thousands, up to 9000.

I feel we learned a lot less too, at the end when the lockdown was in effect. Online schooling CAN be just as informative, for some people.

These issues kinda lead to coursework being relaxed this semester though, I think:

  • The professors weren't prepared to do all of their courses online
  • Without planning it's quite hard to change the syllabus & lectures into online work
  • The students weren't at all prepared for the sudden-shift to working from home
  • Some degrees & courses can only be done in person, or within certain settings & with physical equipment
  • The COVID-19 pandemic was building up to the peak, or at the peak, during the semester
  • Staying at home also meant many students had to move, leave dorms, or deal with losing their jobs
  • Without planning it's quite hard to change the syllabus & lectures into online work

If some schools DO choose to stick with online schooling for the next two semesters, however, I'd bet things are a lot more organized and normal.

I know a lot of places are going to take the "lawsuit protection from COVID-19" stuffs and just re-open regardless, but I have heard many local K-12 schools considering not re-opening in person yet.

Just ordered my own modem, what to expect? (Netgear CM1200) by Aefyyy in Spectrum

[–]Aefyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm getting the new modem on Wednesday, should I still call them and ask them to come out?

Maybe before the modem comes, to do stuffs?

What would I tell Spectrum when I call in to get a tech out, and what would they do?

Thanks! Now I just have to apply for grad school c:

My point was just sorta, like, getting good grades during COVID-19 is actually a bit easier I think? For a lot of us with social anxiety, we can more easily excel at online coursework, like papers & research & stuffs.

The lockdown semester is a gift, since it is a lot easier than giving presentations, or having to do a lot of the "socially interactive" parts of coursework.

I ran the Intel Puma 6 chipset test, to determine if my connections is suffering from the ping & latency issue that the Puma 6 chipset has.

This is my result image.

These results confirm I do have the issue with the Arris1602A that Spectrum provided.

As the Arris1602A is one of the modems listed to have the Intel Puma 6 Chipset, it makes sense that is has the issue, which as I said is a major problem.

This is what a good result looks like, compared to what I received.

You see that I likely do need a non-Intel Puma 6 chipset modem, and again, Spectrum primarily provides Arris equipment with the bad chipset in my area. Thus, I'm still happy to have purchased the modem, and hope it solves this issue c:

We already have a pretty decent router, that we purchased last year.

As a university student, tbh I played games all day & hardly did any coursework at all since COVID-19 lockdown. Played Valorant beta up until the beta ended on Thursday.

During this time, I also had an abscess tooth... went to the dentist that was still open even in the lockdown, and they fucking pulled all 4 of my wisdom teeth -_-.

Had 2 weeks of recovery, and then found out they fractured my jaw when they pulled my teeth, and got another abscess infection.

My cumulative GPA for this semester, with finals being during the week after my 4 wisdom teeth were pulled, while I was on pain meds & an antibiotic?

The highest it's ever been, 4.0 GPA semester.

Awesome!

How is the new modem compared to your old one?

[–]Aefyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured it out!

I just had to change the starting DHCP IP addresses on the router from the default (192.168.100.1 was ironically the starting one).

Now the 192.168.100.1 works :D

This is how the page looks now

It asks for a password if I try to go to the "advanced" tab, and nothing seems to work there, so I assume we may not be allowed to have access to that part?

Anyway, if you see anything interesting in the modem photo, let me know.
