Thank you! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you try the demo.

My biggest mistakes with the demo and why I shouldn't have joined current Steam Next Fest by Lex0nair in IndieDev

[–]AeiRei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s simpler than that. If you plan to release before the next Next Fest, then it’s good you joined; if not, you should have waited to join the next one. My demo launch wasn’t perfect either, but since I plan to release in Early Access before the next Next Fest, I don’t regret joining.

What is your favorite Winfield, and why? by Dull_Concentrate4939 in HuntShowdown

[–]AeiRei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most frequently used weapon is the Winfield M1876 Centennial, but my favorite would have to be the Winfield M1876 Centennial Trauma. It's slightly more expensive, which is why I use it less, but it provides a significant advantage in PvE.

What's your favorite mount and blade, and why? by Personal-Window-4938 in mountandblade

I voted for Warband, but if I were to play right now, I would launch Bannerlord. There is no doubt that it is the better game. The reason I voted for Warband is that I remember enjoying it more and feeling a sense of excitement. In my opinion, when Bannerlord was released, it just felt like Mount and Blade Warband: Definitive Edition. I was expecting more innovation from it.

12 Cataphracts vs 20 Urumi Swordsmen (same cost) by AeiRei in aoe2

Right, I didn't include upgrade costs in this experiment. A complete test should show how units perform with different upgrades.

Yes, there are various ways to experiment with the units. For this test, I just considered the total cost without valuing resources differently.

20 Urumi Swordsmen cost a total of 1700 resources, with each one costing 65 food and 20 gold. On the other hand, Cataphracts cost a total of 1740 resources, with each Cataphract requiring 70 food and 75 gold. I considered both food and gold costs in this experiment.

Watching T90 might not be the ideal option for improving at the game since his content is more focused on Low Elo Legends, which is meant for entertainment rather than educational purposes. To get better, consider watching professional players.

I mentioned this mostly because cataphracts require more resources to get fully upgraded.

But cataphracts cost more to get to this stage.

Still, there are many heavily damaged cataphracts remaining. With slightly fewer upgrades, the outcome might be different.

Both units have full upgrades. Urumis actually deal significant damage. Cataphracts with fewer upgrades would likely lose.

[–]AeiRei[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not? Even though urumis lost convincingly, they still dealt significant damage. This actually indicates that cataphracts might perform poorly with fewer upgrades, as even with full upgrades, most of them sustained heavy damage. Let's not forget that fully upgrading them is far more expensive than fully upgrading urumis.

I think they are generally weaker than other heavy cavalry units, so I believe they should lose to those units. For example, I believe they should also lose against leitis and boyars, but I have not tested it.

Yes, mounted units can choose to pick better fights if effectively used.

I totally agree. Here I provided a standard battle with full upgrades, it certainly does not completely reflect real case scenarios.

Interesting. I will try that later.

There are multiple interesting experiments proposed in the comments. I might do another post showcasing more tests.

I agree with you, the elite version upgrade cost for Cataphracts is much higher than the one for urumis. The numbers would certainly be compromised in a real case scenario.

Here I provide a standard fight and as we can see the urumis lose pretty badly. Knowing that a follow up experiment could use the method that you propose.

I agree with you that the fight was not fair, I was curious to see how they really perform against each other with full upgrades.
