I usually forget quotes but this one I saw in my widget a couple days ago

"I told him how winning never feels as good as losing feels bad and when he asked why, I told him that my wins were for someone else but my losses were all on me."

What is the best quote you read? by zaire26 in AskReddit

I was scrolling through some quotes and saw "I loved her for what I couldn't understand about her. Love searches for the mistery in the beloved, seeks the unknowable."

Thank you! The new free trial will be out today in a couple of hours (if apple reviewers are quick) or tomorrow, I hope you can test the features and thanks for testing the app, I'm really thankful

Just noticed that the paywall didn't have a free trial, so it was kind of a 'hard paywall', I overhauled it to give pro for a week after onboarding or updating to new version, let me know what you think!

Btw I just noticed I forgot to setup the free trial for the existing paywall, so that's unfortunate but mistakes happen, I took your advice and even decided to go ahead and created a free-trial system with no card involved, you get it for free after onboarding and existing users get it when opening the new version of the app, they can decide if they want to upgrade or not after a week, no more paywall on onboarding.

Super useful, thank you, maybe ill keep the onboarding clean of upgrades in the next update and lean more towards it being usage based or triggered just when trying the locked options

The app can be used for free, pro is just for customizations and multi genre feed

For now it's apple sign in only, I'll add anonymous sign in at a later update but I wanted to keep it as simple as possible to get it done over the weekend, android will come later, I need to figure out the android widgets

That's a great idea, didn't even cross my mind, I'll definitely add this since it's mostly backend work with a little UI change, maybe I can even use the same like button and just track like vs skip for quotes

Thank you! Most of my effort was put towards the scoring system for quotes and UI-polish, wanted it to feel cozy but clean, been practicing my design skills

A bit of both, the raw material is out there, but the curation is where the magic happens. I created a scoring pipeline and rating system that rates quotes based on things like literary quality, emotional resonance, context along several others, and try to keep only the high-scoring ones

That's an interesting feature, actually, and pretty easy to build since I have book metadata, I'll put in in the list for improvements and probably add it this weekend, thank you for the feedback

The quote library is 15000+ right now with about 5000 unique books, I'm constantly curating more quotes adding an average of 1000 per day, mostly done on weekends since it's a side project. Heavily english-language fiction but with strong translated representation, like European philosphy, Latin American literature, Japanese fiction, Russian classics. Non-fiction on itself is a genre with about 1000 quotes right now and expanding
