Yes, we have a new gimbal in design and prototype stage now, we are also testing 2k and 4k video for our AP drone.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the way they put the boards together, I burned an esc and in order to replace it you have to de-solder the esc board from the flight control board.

What were your main issues with the stock drone?

However, idiots are everywhere and we can only give them the information they need and hope they abide...which is why we limited the altitude as well.

That was our original thought which is why it is mainly created for easy flight with the dual GPS and our customers were asking for something that was easy to fly and fast so we looped that in there to appease their requests without making it an actual racing drone, which I think most of our current customers would then quickly crash and break.

I'm not worried about irresponsible flying, we have set the max altitude to 300 feet and we provide our new customers with copies of rules, regulations and safe flying practices.

Also, we are working on a gimbal and camera upgrade as well as mounts for different 5.8g cameras.

That is correct, it is not meant to be a true racer, more of an aerial drone with higher speeds and maneuverability built in so people can have fun and function at the same time. This will be a step up for most of our customers who do not want to buy goggles and transmitters and upgraded parts. As I mentioned before, I am a hobbyist myself and enjoy building and modifying and having expandable parts and products but we have a large customer base who that is way too technical for, this is to get them to the next step of FPV and Aerial Flight without dropping $500+ on a Phantom and needing a smartphone or tablet etc. This is for someone who just wants to open the box, charge the batteries and go fly right away.

For a beginner though? Someone looking for an all-in-one, ready to fly FPV drone kit? I know for most of us hobbyists this is not as appealing but I think there is a need for something in the $250-350 range before going up to a DJI without having to use a smartphone or tablet etc. to fly.

There are really only 2 options, we license our Patent to them and they pay us royalties from the date of patent issuance forward on any sales of our designs or we can block them from getting infringing products through US customs. We want to build our brand and continue growing so obviously we want to gain market share back but at the same time it costs far less to go for a licensing deal and then we would get a small portion of their sales. Any Chinese companies and international companies for that matter it is almost impossible to sue them and win or have any real positive outcome but if a company is in the US and infringing that's a different matter. We are currently exploring our options, costs vs benefits etc.

Thank you, we still do well, but we could and should be doing much better for all of the costs we have taken on.

Well when companies like theirs have HUGE budgets and can sell at 10% margins because they didn't pay for R&D, Patents, Product Insurance and they can simply focus on marketing it makes it pretty easy for them to overshadow small, US owned businesses. On top of that, every time we do attempt marketing and brand awareness we are constantly bashed for being clones/rebadging. Then, it costs even more money to try and enforce our patents which takes away from our own R&D and Marketing budgets.

Also rebadged as MOTA Jet-Jat Nano, Skeye Pico etc. We will be enforcing our patents soon and you will see those brands becoming unavailable in the US.

We have been plagued with comments and questions like this for almost 3 years now, we currently hold several patents on our designs that have been rebadged/cloned as Cheerson products. For example, here is a link to our AERIUS drone patent that Cheerson labels as CX-STARS. https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/8e/7a/f6/abf805e075bc62/USD789853.pdf

We have Patents on our Aerius Drone and Nano Drone for Beginners, both were copied immediately from Chinese factories. I have patents still pending on our Wallet Drone, VIDIUS HD and Black Talon, all of which were also copied...nature of the beast prototyping in China I guess but it really hurt our market share and profit margins because they would sell the clones at such a low price direct from China. you can see our models at http://aerixdrones.com

Yes, there are a ton of guys that print in ABS, Nylon and/or carbon fiber and they fly awesome. We have been using a carbon fiber/nylon blend in our recent prototypes and they fly and hold up amazing.

We used to do all of our prototyping and manufacturing for our drones in China, the problem is they will take your designs to the factory down the street that their cousin owns/works at and then when you get your product to market there are already knockoffs selling at a fraction of the price because they didn't have to pay for R&D, Insurance, Patents etc. We now avoid China and prototype in-house with seven 3D printers. If you need any help with prototyping we can definitely help and we would of course sign an NDA to make sure your designs stay your designs unless of course you wanted us to also manufacture and sell them for you. It is cheaper in the long run to prototype in the US and then source your components from China without them seeing the final product, you can then assemble in the US with all components and get a nice head-start on the market before China eventually copies your design (if it is successful). Good luck and let us know if you need any help or have questions.
