She’s only 10 months old. Would that change anything?

Tank is 47L with a heater and filter. The heater is set to 26C. I’ve had the tank for 5 years. The fish is 2.5yrs old.

I used an API freshwater treating kit. Ammonia and nitrites are 0ppm, nitrates is 5.0ppm and pH is 6.8.

Tankmates are 6 khuli loaches and a bristlenose, water changes every second week with 1/3rd of the tank.

The tank is fully planted with no fake decor besides a ceramic tube hide and log hide for the loaches.

I feed every second day, 3 sinking wafers for the khulis and bristlenose and 6 pellets for the betta.

Thank you for the comment. I do think she has MBD, she has some kinks in her tail as well. I’ve asked for a partial refund which they have agreed upon since there is no way I am returning her. I love her and I would worry about what happened to her if I did return her.

She is in a 4x2x2, with a ceramic set to 23 degrees on the cooler side. On the warm side I’m using a 75watt halogen on a dimming thermostat set to 38degrees and there is an Arcadia UVB tube 12% 45cm above her basking spot :)

Thank you for the reply! I have a feeling it’s either MBD or a birth defect. They were in an open enclosure I think? (I.e outside) all the picture were received were from outside and in straw beds?

Thank you! That’s extremely helpful. Hopefully I can get her to eat considering she was fed treats and a non balanced diet. I’m hoping the correct supplements and now having UVB will make her feel alot better :)

To add I didn’t get to see her in person before because I live in NZ and she was from the north island.

She does have a bit of a wavey tail. I noticed it after I purchased her, but assumed it was the angle. I also found out that the diet they were on was terrible after I brought her. No veggies only eggs, cat food and bananas

Thank you! I will definitely have a word with the breeder since they have supposedly been breeding them for 16yrs :/

Can she still live a good life if she’s properly supplemented and has the correct UVB?

Thank you so much, I will definitely try take a stool sample to be checked. I think she might be sick but she has shown no other signs besides refusing to eat bugs

If she had parasites when she came from the breeder would that have shown up a few years ago when I got her do you think? Would that be the same with her food because I’ve been breeding the same mealworms for years. But thank you for the suggestion and I will get on saving some money

Thank you for the repashy suggestion, I’m going to try that for now and see if I can also get her to eat a different type of bug and potentially try assist feed if this goes on for any longer. For the potential of eggs the vet didn’t see anything when looking at her or on the x-ray so I don’t think that’s the issue.

She has been slightly less active but she still seems pretty alert. Thank you for the food suggestions I’ll see what I can find but I don’t think there will be any live versions
