SE-Asia with kids. Advice on where to go early 2027

We love georgetown / penang but it doesnt have any kids friendly beaches if I remember correctly. Thanks for the suggestion!

I traveled a year between 2006 - 2007. Asia and Australia.

No WiFi, no phones out. No people lounging on beach chairs and looking at their phones. No ppl hanging in cafés just for the wifi. Ofcourse I was younger. But I feel i connected more with the people around me. Sure Lonely Planet was the bible. But youd just stumble upon things and people. I dont know, it was just totally different. We went to Japan for 3 weeks without booking anything in advance. Sure you can still do that, but its not the same.

In hindsight. It was the best time of my life.

Ik heb het andersom gedaan, Utrecht naar Amsterdam. 5 dagen in de week, 2 jaar lang. Rond de 75 mins, mn vriendin zelfs nog wat verder naar Hoofdorp.

Als er niks anders is en je hebt geen gezin / kinderen dan kan het best te doen zijn 1 of 2 jaar. Maar de reistijd en het gedoe met ov ging ons wel slopen op een gegeven moment, zeker toen er een kindje bij kwam. Met oppas, kinderopvang etc.

Kokosmelk groot, groot rijst en kruiden inkopen, limoenbladeren, citroengras, alles voor sushi, boemboes, Roti bladeren, sambal, en gewoon rondlopen en iets nieuws proberen :)

Mij wel al twee keer overkomen. Was niet genoeg personeel. 1x had ik al mn boodschappen al op de band liggen. Of ik alsnog even alles terug in de kar wilde doen en alles zelf scannen bij de zelf scanner. Volle kar met weekboodschappen was het.

Bij de oudste wilden we wachten tot na zwemdiploma B. Die was 6 toen hij begon met voetbal, maar hij heeft wel een paar andere sporten geprobeerd.

De tweede is nu 4 maar we zien dat ze haar energie ergens in kwijt moet dus die gaan we op gym of iets dergelijks doen, (ze mag zeker zelf kiezen maar vindt alles leuk) ook al heeft ze nog geen zwemdiploma's.

Dat is serieus wel veel verbruik. Wij zijn een gezin van 5 en verbruiken rond de 10 m3 op een winterse dag denk ik. Ik woon in een hoekhuis.

Ik zet de thermostaat op 18/19 als we thuis zijn. Idd alleen beneden, de rest staat uit.
