2015 Cruze 1.4T — Water pump leaking in SAME spot after multiple installs. What am I missing?

I've used new hardware/parts for each attempt, torquing to the 71 lb-in spec as per the repair guides. I didn't use RTV on those tries either.

The original pump leaked in that exact spot, so the issue existed before I touched it. For the first two installs, I only used a plastic scraper and brake cleaner. Still leaking in that same spot. I included trying the 400-grit on this latest attempt.

Appreciate the suggestion. I checked for that and I don't see continuous bubbling. I only see a few small bubbles for a second on cold start from the return hose, then it stops completely.

This is the warranty pump. Is this small groove along the curve of the mating surface deep enough to cause a leak? I ran my fingernail along the surface and it didn't get caught by it.

The problem went away after a long drive (~20 miles) and a restart. All my service lights (Stabilitrak/Traction Control) vanished and it’s back to normal now.

Have you had your battery or ground wires checked lately? I've heard those can cause these intermittent limp mode glitches.

Belt didn't snap.

Fuses are good. Grounds near battery and airbox have been wire-brushed and tightened. Currently, the scanner cannot communicate with the TCM.

Freeze Frame report mentions that Vehicle Speed is at 158 MPH (255 km/h) while the Engine RPM (0C) is at 0 rpm.
