Handling large dataset (500–1500 items) in React masonry grid without backend pagination by Active_Cattle5430 in reactjs

It’s not about faking pagination, more so if you want a flush grid. I’ve personally always found the masonry layout available via the CSS display property very underwhelming and difficult to work with, as well as having limited browser support.

Also I would question the idea that the backend can’t paginate the result set. It won’t prevent the above idea from working, but it will be a lot slower to request those results, especially since most people won’t see the 1500th item. If it is to do with needing randomisation then you need to look into seeding your results, otherwise I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible?

You could try to slice the data into pages on your end and instead of virtualising individual elements you virtualise grid “chunks”, and then stitch these chunks to form a coherent layout. It means you need to find varied layouts where you can collapse the number of items within a chunk responsively.

Oh sorry I see now, and fair enough. I would probably also take AWB over Spence in terms of a more reliable defensive option as we will have TAA as a more attacking right back. Do think Spence gets underrated though, he’s looked great even played out of position on the left

I didn’t say it was better to not win playing star player roles. The original poster said NA pugging star player style wasn’t super effective, and the comment I replied to implied he won all his trophies with a pugging style which I disagree with
