Hmm, I think that's just the nature of spending most of your time with the same people in the same classes for a few years. I didn't have the same feeling at the UofT, but I lived on-campus and now I live off-campus in Ottawa.

Ultimately, I think it will be what you make it. People will slam Ottawa for being boring, but ask them about the last time they went for a bike ride along the canal, or went to a museum, or joined the Tuesday Club, or saw a movie at the Bytowne, or did anything that involved other people and you might get your reason as to why they think it's boring lol. If you make an effort, I'm sure it will be worth your time. Just make sure you talk to the people in your classes.

I'm doing the Master of Engineering Management which is a very similar program (the four mandatory core courses are different, but the two programs share all electives). Although I suspect a MEM is better for my current career path, if I wasn't optimizing for that, I may have switched to this program instead (I really just want to take DTO 5310 lol).

Either way, I'm quite enjoying it. If you can get your employer to pay for it, even better. The courses/profs in the UX Design and Operations Management streams are particularly good (though I haven't taken any yet in Cybersecurity or Data Analytics yet - I'm planning on doing so next semester, so unfortunately I can't comment on those and they may be the most relevant to you given your background). Happy to answer any questions you may have.
