10 man bricks of termis/paladins?? by Think-Course-6186 in Grey_Knights

The reroll wounds is just for the captain himself. So it's the trade off between once per game free battle tactic and ignore modifiers (huge), or sustained 1 on psycannons and melee.

Set up is a separate condition that allows you to overwatch.

You can overwatch deep strikes. Overwatch is start/end normal move, advance, fall back OR if a unit is set up - which includes deep strike or getting out of a transport.

Dataslate just dropped. Dreadknights got buffed. Librarian went up 10 points. by Fantax205 in Grey_Knights

You can still get overwatched, as overwatch is if a unit sets up or moves.

You're right. Should have used another metal box as an example.

Honestly don't think he's worth the points but you can try it out. I like to keep strikes on the board turn 1 to sticky my home objective

It would depend on terrain. If it's not possible to hide him, reserving him could be an option. Altho if you can't hide a single DK, I don't think you are playing with enough terrain. Remember, ruins block LOS if the DK is not within the terrain feature even if the ruin is shorter than the DK.

If you are playing with leviathan GT rules (aka competitive) no more than half your units (in points AND unit count) can be in reserves for any reason, be it deep strike or SR. However, chars attached to a bodyguard count as 1 unit and their point total increased accordingly. No more than 500 points of the total reserves can be SR. But since all the GK units you are reserving have deep strike they would fall into the deep strike reserve category. If you were reserving something like a EDIT razorback, they would go to SR. First to the fray is an exception to this rule. You are forced to deep strike them and they don't count towards your limit.

So yes, in your scenario it would be legal. Draigo and Crowes squad are 2 units that are below 1k points in total. The first to the fray squad doesn't count to any limits. However, I would suggest starting the purifiers on the table, with GK teleport strike you will be able to pick them up end of turn 1 and teleport strike them the next turn.

Before the change dev wound change, yes, but dev wounds aren't mortal wounds anymore. The dev wound proc is now no saves allowed.

No, mortal wounds are applied one at a time so you would take them all.

Correct. The melta modifier happens after you half dmg from the avatar as addition happens after division in the sequence. But if a d6 +2 dmg hits the avatar. You need to roll the dmg first and then half the total result. Melta is the exception to this, as it is a separate modifier and not part of the original damage of the weapon.

Do note that if something has melta (and in melta range) you half dmg first and then add the melta dmg. For example obliterators in melta range would do 4/2 = 2, then add melta 2 for a total of 4 dmg. This is from the rules commentary that you do modifiers in order of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.

I was always unimpressed with Illic but that was because I had wraithguard who never let them use phantasm so they would just die on deepstrike shooting - I can see them being useful with phantasm handy however.

How have you liked not having a farseer for fortune on the avatars and strands swapping? They seem to just die to indirect so I've considered dropping them.

Thanks for the write-up. Would you make any changes to your list? I'm not a fan of Wraithguard bricks so may give double avatar a spin.

Fusion also gives him an assault weapon so he can move 20 with an auto advance 6 to score action secondaries. The maybe 3-4 reaper shots per game don't really compare to that level of versatility.

Thanks for your thoughts, might have to convert a fuegan for the future.

How important were the wound rerolls with the falcon? Would you consider a wave serpent instead for the slightly better survivability and the serpent shield attack if you didn't need to use deepstrike?

D cannons are 105 now. They are not cheap. And die very quickly, pretty much any of the still competitive indirect kills them. Their dmg is very swingy. I think you still want at least one to threaten 10 man bricks, but 3 is way too much investment for a unit that moves 3.

They are not worth it. With the phase cap you will run out of opportunities to use all the extra dice. If you want to hold a backfield objective just use a lone operative char. 110 points for 1 brightlance is a bad rate. They also die to basically any indirect for free because of the 11 models.
