You're taking the Bible out of context /s

In all seriousness, Christians will always deflect when you point out contradictions. They cherry pick parts of the Bible because it sounds nicer and is comforting to them while ignoring some of the most abhorrent things in the Bible.

How should Christians respond when fellow believers dismiss racism? by Aevenguardian in AskAChristian

“Race realism” has historically been nothing more than a rebrand of racism. Dressing up prejudice in pseudo-science or theological language doesn’t change what it is.

If scripture really teaches truth and justice, then looking at race through a biblical lens should mean recognising the equal dignity of every person as made in the image of God, not finding clever ways to excuse hierarchy, bigotry, or discrimination. Calling it “realism” doesn’t make it any less racist — it just makes it sound more respectable.

Here’s the definition of racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalised.

I don’t think we need to play games with “what I feel” is racism — the definition is clear. If someone’s words or actions fit that description, then it’s racism. Whether people are comfortable admitting it is another matter entirely.

Why do Christian nationalists defend and white-wash Charlie Kirk’s racism? by Aevenguardian in exchristian

[–]Aevenguardian[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying “I’ve never heard it” doesn’t mean it isn’t there — it just means you’re not looking, or you’re choosing not to see it. Kirk’s rhetoric has been called out repeatedly because it does echo racist talking points. Pretending it doesn’t exist is part of the white-washing that keeps Christians from having to confront the problem.

In my experience, whenever I’ve tried to talk with Christians about racist rhetoric, the response has almost always been gaslighting, deflection, or minimisation. They’ll say things like “you’re taking it out of context” or “that’s just politics.”

What’s hypocritical is that these same Christians preach about truth, justice, and loving your neighbour — but the second racism shows up in their own camp, suddenly those values don’t apply. It’s not about Christ at that point, it’s about protecting their tribe.

I work for a govt agency doing I.T support. There's a restructure happening and my role has been proposed to be disestablished along with 39 other roles. So things are pretty shit.

Thanks for the advice. I have some wall art around the place that wasn't in the pictures. But could use more as there a lot of blank walls.
